Outdated schematics - shanahan runs a ton of gap and power now especially when he has more mobile qbs

Also not the same but you can run a bunch of similar concepts out of pistol to under centre

Also Lamar ran more under centre the last couple of years

If kubiak is as rigid structurally as this on offence he wouldn’t have been successful or have made it past a first interview
 
For better or worse, what I think makes Kubiak an appealing candidate is that he is adaptable based on the personnel he has. He's got a system but it's not a hell or high water system. In some ways, that's great because you're not pigeonholed. On the other hand, it's not like he's got some big brain shit cooked up at all times. I think he's a quality candidate based on that theory, but I am with some where I don't agree that he's some hot shot can't miss type of offensive mind.

I dont know why anyone thinks of him like he's a slam dunk. I've been saying the offensive coaches this cycle blow and that changed only with McDaniel's firing. After we chose not to go with him, I am firmly in give me Minter, Saleh, or Flores. Obviously the last two are out so Minter it is.

Was macdonald even a good coach/coordinator before his final season with us? Lol young coaches got their ups and downs and not much experiences on their resume

Well said. He probably truly deserves a shot at HC. I dont know that I'd want that shot to be with my team lol

I understand what you're saying but ultimately that's just gambling. Sometimes when you gamble, you win but most of the time you lose. Every year the NFL does this exact thing where lot's of gambling happens and almost always it doesn't work out.
 
For what it’s worth, there have been rumors about over the last few days that Minter would take the McDaniel route if it came to it - embracing a coordinator role over a bad HC gig. Not saying that is absolutely what is happening currently, but I wouldn’t read into it too far just yet.

Other then ben johnson and josh mcdaniels as OC, i dnt think ive ever seen a big brain schemer available

I just think that if they were zeroed in on offensive schematics that Mike McDaniel would be our HC already

Which says either the schematic creativity and innovation isn’t priority number one or it’s going to be minter

Makes sense - would think of it like the Ben Johnson plan - you know you’re in demand and will likely continue to be top of many people’s lists and if the right opportunity doesn’t turn up then better to stay where you are for another year than take a bad job

Obviously it needs to come true for it all to matter, but the rumors that Lamar and the playmakers want Kingsbury seems to suggest they feel like it’s a better value to get a 2 for 1 in some ways.

Not going to pretend I know more than them

But if those rumours are true I really wonder what it is about Kingsbury they think they’re getting that he hasn’t shown in other spots

My only guess is that it is very player friendly and not overly complex. Feels like a step back to me but like you said, what do I know?
