Coaching Carousel 2026

Nobody wants this job

but why would they want that job?

GM on the hot seat
temperamental and unstable owner
no franchise QB but still tons of scrutiny because shedeur's there, and it looks like a 1 QB draft so picking 2nd overall doesnt help either
bottom 5 team in 2026 cap space

and on top of that, the browns are making candidates do extra work in the actual 2nd interview stage as well with the essays and tests

someone will take the job but if a candidate thinks they'll still have chances in the future, why take that job? i wonder if schwartz ends up with this job almost by default...

That's where I'm at. If I'm Scheelhaase, I'm probably taking the risk that I can do this again next year and end up in a better situation.

Then the Browns are kind of left with the guy who's willing to take the job vs. the guy(s) they actually want.

that's why i think schwartz from their list
a guy who's least likely to get a shot at HC

interesting guy
background with RBs, WRs and QBs
has some college HC experience at East Carolina
Coached Gibbs and Monty and St. brown and Jamo. Really interested in this

Definitely interesting..

At Pitt he coached Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, Antwaan Randle El

At Duke: Jamison Crowder

At ECU: Gardner Minshew II, Zay Jones

At Indy: Jonathan Taylor when he led the league in yards and Touchdowns

One negative mark is his OC tenure while under Locksley in Maryland. I’m not from the area so i couldn’t speak on what went wrong there as much as some of you might be able to.
