2026 Offseason Thread

On the Lamar front, I thought it was interesting how Steve stealthily made an offer right there... same deal that you liked and signed last time, but at the new elevated number.

I love that they are empowering Lamar. Basically telling him sign the contract, you get a better team around you and come be apart of choosing the next head coach, you can ride on my PJ lol

I can’t wait to see who they choose for HC

Guessing that offer has been there and Steve was letting everyone know the ball is in Lamar’s court.

the benefit of having two guys face the media who have no questions about job security (even though 1 is the other's boss)

for sure

i think we're in a similar (but easier) situation to last time there were negotiations where there's a bit of an outlier contract at the top of the market

obviously deshaun's deal was all about the full guarantees

but dak's getting 5m/yr more than anyone else
otherwise i would have assumed you'd just do josh allen's 2 year extension (or longer) and have lamar come in above allen and burrow's numbers

i wonder if also this time they've been better at explaining the timeline to him and why
lamar, in fairness, said he wasnt going to talk (or think) about the contract during the season

but now that the offseason's come around it's time

and im hoping that once the coaching search is finished, lamar's deal will be the next thing to get done

Shot my guy a text on Madubuike and it sounds like they're still kind of in the same place with him and that's why there have been no updates... still progressing and seeing how/if things heal and what the long-term prognosis is. Think I mentioned awhile back that it was not a surgical thing at the time and that it was simply rest and reevaluate, and it seems they're still there as of now.

Caveating again that he's been very upfront that this is the stuff he's been most unsure about in a long time, so grain of salt it.

EDC even went into detail about getting it done will be key in having more dinero to boost the possibility of bringing in FAs. Just make it done and go forward!

Yeah Steve made the point repeatedly that he's all about getting opinions from his vet players and staff. He was also adamant in saying that they had zero power in the decision. The power is all his.

just wild even thinking about what it might be

if it was congenital or anything like Orr's thing he'd already be retired, wouldn't ever be medically cleared to play again
if it's more of a impact based injury that's caused something to break in the spine, you'd have assumed there'd be surgery involved

so just weird to think what it could be that the prognosis is so uncertain but it's not a definite career-ender and it's not something that requires surgery

I’ve heard some sort of severe sprain but don’t quote me

I know a lot of the questions in today's presser will rightfully be centered around the failures of the season and the coaching search, but curious if today is the day we got any tiny bit of clarity on Madubuike.
Nope. LOL

He could be dead for all we know. Maybe he is AI.

idk that it's an amazing free agent market
but interesting that EDC was intimating that they might want to be spenders if they had money to spend

suggests that for the first time in a while, they're not content with some of the options on the roster coming through in certain places

you'd think they'd prioritise Linderbaum first though still

He'll be a Raven when it's all said and done. That's for certain. What isn't certain is which Raven: Baltimore or LA?

I suspect it's because we have to be spenders.

We have some major holes we cannot fill through the Draft alone and also make the Super Bowl.

Edge
OG
DL (Madubuike dependent)
WR (depending on perspective)
CB

Presser kind of falling off the edge at the end with Steve's passionate tirade

but just interesting that he basically admitted that the other guys in the front office all thought it was time to make some significant change, but they were all too close to harbs to make the leap to thinking they had to reset everything including the HC - so i guess good for him for taking that leap and forcing them to look past their relationship himself

also in a back-handed way, he praised the journalists/reporters there for the same reasons that we often criticise them - they're far too easy and deferential to decision makers within the organisation at times
Going back to this…

I feel like the type of media we have works when there’s as much transparency as there was today. Other than the loonies, I thought the questions were pointed and were aimed at a vision rather than all of the intimate details of how we ended up here.

Will be curious if there’s as much mystery behind the new HC’s words as there was with Harbaugh’s and maybe that’s a big piece of this whole thing. I know a couple of media guys have said they backed off of Harbaugh because they knew pissing him off would just shut down even more info.

just quickly scrolling back through the week 2 tape to see if there's any madubuike clues

just got to his sack and like - my god do we miss him
and literally any pass play where he's not doubled he's just walking the guard into Flacco's lap...

also peebles had a great set of snaps in that browns game too lol

but nothing gleaned from his snaps - he was in on the penultimate defensive series including the final play of that series with no impact or anything and then the starting DL were rotated out on the final defensive drive

Maybe it happened in the first game?

Also back on the Lamar front…

Steve seems like a guy that wants to go for it and maximize this window before he bows out. He mentioned specifically that if they had to add void years to Lamar’s deal as part of a restructure so they can play, they’ll do that. Just seems like a guy that is hellbent on winning at this stage and it costs him money or means some down years on the back end of that, so be it.

I think Harbaugh may have even said it at some point, but apparently it’s a cumulative thing, not some specific incident. Woke up with pain one day and checked it out and that was that.
