The Lamar, The Watson and The Doubters

Absolutely and I've been saying this for some time now. We have reached the place where we just need to embrace that fact that we'll be expected to win and just go out and meet those expectations.

The days of flying under the radar and playing the "no respect" card for motivation are over.

The other forums I visit the narrative has changed today, its gone from "lol running back" to "Ok hes the MVP"

Just re-watched some plays - our O line played awesome football. Phenomenal in pass protection.

They've been playing well on this stretch and for most of the season. Again, Skura has been having himself a year. Playing great as a unit. Would love to see what LiT has to say about his favorite o-lineman.

Unfortunately, I was in transit during game time and followed a little on game cast and only caught some highlights. What I was most interested in seeing was if the pass rush could get to Watson. 7 sacks answered that question. The other was how our front would fair with our two new DL additions.

How did they play

So much for this being the game of the week that should have been flexed into Sunday night. Maybe the Rams will challenge us ...

peko played quite a lot actually - didnt really notice him a huge amount but our run defence was generally pretty great - texans had one long run for a td in garbage time and that was it - until the 4th quarter carlos hyde's longest run was 6 yards i think

and in terms of the pass rush - partly it was down to the coverage but that undersells how dominant judon was - he had one of those days he can sometimes have where he just decides to take over and dominate the opposing tackle - and promising sign, jaylon ferguson looked pretty damn great also - especially in the first half

No. We're going to show out in LA. Hollywood something like 7 catches 160 yards 2 tds. Jared Goff sucks.

The 7 sacks the Ravens had showed me two things. One the Ravens can rush the passer. Two that Watson isn't half as elusive as Lamar Jackson is. Never will be. Lamar is a talent that is other worldly. He is too damn special to be compared with any other QB living or dead period.

to be fair on the first of those sacks (the ff by judon), watson wasnt sacked for over 10 seconds but should have been sacked 4 different times before that point - was the longest time from snap to sack in the nfl since 2017 (iirc) - the thing today was the ravens rush was disciplined - we won the individual battles but didnt lose contain and the coverage on the backend was awesome - he's not as elusive as lamar but he's also known for his ability to evade sacks and make miracles happen in the backfield

I really think if Judon finishes strong, he of course will be getting paid significantly next year, but I believe it will be us who will be paying him.

We all have said is strong pass rusher off the edge is the one ingredient that this team lacks significant strength. However, if Judon starts really proving he's got that, then why would we let him go and then try to bring in someone to take his place?

He's proved that already. The reason we'll keep him is because he does everything else well, too.

the problem i think is that he's done this every year - where he gets dominant down the stretch for a few games and kind of baits the team into thinking he's turned the corner - he's been pretty good but i dont think he's been good enough to get paid the money that he'll get from the market - maybe im wrong

well part of the problem is other teams have been able to focus on him, this season, since we have no other real pass rushers. I think we would have had more sacks if we had a pass rusher on the other side. Last year it helped having both ZDS and Suggs and they all shared in sacks and ZDS and Judon both had about 8 sacks last year

This is his best year in pressures though, by a long shot.

let's hope that it continues and that it's partly related to the emergence (hopefully) of jaylon ferguson
