Week 13 San Francisco 49ers @ Baltimore Ravens

do we have a guy who could step in for ferguson? hes been a liability on the edge today in run defense, hes had a good season so far, but this is not his kind of game and hes struggling. we need someone more fundamentally sound on the edge.

we also need to do something scheme wise to keep chuck clark from playing man coverage, we need him as free as possible to prevent these big chunk runs, a sound tackling safety could be the key here to getting this defense together, and we have one of those, but due to our scheme hes unable to key in on the run when he needs to
 
Defensively we're losing the edge - i've loved the improvement by jaylon but he's getting manipulated effectively by the 9ers - we need to find some answer to those outside runs because we're destroying them inside

tackling by the dbs has been awful

He's had weaknesses on the edge for the entire season. 49ers have such a great run offense and they know how to expose that edge with the blockers they have. I'm definitely concerned for edge because I don't want our CBs to have to make tackles for stops.
 
A touchdown here on offense would lower my blood pressure

quick answer: no - we dont really have many bodies that can play edge at all
slightly longer answer: tyus bowser isnt that guy and jihad ward is the only other guy who might play outside otherwise - but we havent really used him in running situations on the edge at all
 
I would be so upset with Harbaugh if we wasted the time San Fran did on their last drive. The really helped us!

seems like we may need more base package, williams at 3 and wormley at 5, bowser and sam and ward at edge. im not sure they have the firepower to exploit us in base package and that may be the solution.
