Around the NFL: News and Rumors

SMH

nothing was promised - except all the money he gets while he sits on the 53 man roster

The NFL has also decided to put Foster on the Exempt List, and the Redskins have said they will not play him until all the legal stuff is done. Why claim him knowing he was going to be suspended or put on the exempt list?

because as selfless and investigative as they want this to sound - they're really just jumping on a talent that they know they can get for cheap - basically a free 1st round player for very little money and they control his rights

they knew they would have to do all this defensive work etc. but they reckon if they make it look like they sincerely care about DV that they'll be able to get through this

in actuality its a cold and calculating move that really says everything you want to know about that organisation
im surprised it wasnt the cowboys or bengals tbh

Found a more updated and accurate draft order for through 12 weeks. Have to say, some of the teams in the top 20 are very good selections for our Forum GM Game in the offseason.

Yep, looking forward to it. Btw, I think I did a better job than John Gruden did for thr Raiders. Actually, I know I did better.

the plot thickens...

Foster’s Alabama teammate Ha Ha Clinton-Dix on whether the Redskins consulted with him on waiver claim: “I didn’t talk to Bruce (Allen) or nobody”

especially after that message the ownership put out...

I mean really......the organization has to consult with a current player and former Alabama teammate of Foster? What a joke...

i mean the real issue here is that they said they had consulted with his bama teammates on the roster and evidently they didnt... at least not all of them

Tbh, I’m having fun with all the skins idiocy and probably more than anyone else on this board.

Makes me glad I traded a 1st round pick for Luck.

Holy shit the redskins are aliens:

here's Doug Williams:

1.) Doug Williams says top Redskins officials were united in their decision to claim Reuben Foster: "Nobody that was in my room was thumbs down."

--> so they're all complicit and none of them has any conscience...

2.) Williams on the blowback: "Basically what you’re doing here is you’re taking a high-risk chance. The high risk was the beat-up that we’re going to take from PR. We understood that from a PR standpoint, and we’re taking it."

--> what terrible word-choice

3.) Williams on talking to Foster's former teammates: " It wasn’t like we gotta talk to all five. The two that we did talk to know him very well. Not that that makes the decision on whether we make the move or not; we’re just trying to get some insight into the young man.”

--> what a great idea - let's get character references from his college buddies... and what's crazy is the redskins didnt even look into the charges or talk to tampa police about the investigation (the eagles did and decided they wouldnt bother with a waiver claim)

4.) Williams on the criticism: "I could sit here, and I won’t, name a bunch of teams that took on players that got a lot of baggage that nobody’s saying anything about. You can’t get into nitpicking what they do and what you do. You gotta look at it from your standpoint."

--> because doing something wrong is ok because someone else did the same thing first? what sort of rationalisation is that? i dont think they've really learnt anything because are they really talking about DV as if it's "baggage"... do they not remember the hoopla around Ray Rice at all?

5.) Williams on Foster's future: "The most important thing is, we’re hoping that things come out and it wasn’t the way that everything has been perceived. We don’t know that. We have to wait and see. If things are as bad as it’s made out to be, he might not get a chance to play."

--> this idea that it's ok if they wait and see is ridiculous - wait and see would be to let him go unclaimed, let the process play out and then consider signing him as a free agent...

6.) Williams on the larger moment: "“We’ve got people who are in high, high, high, high places that have done far worse, and if you look at it realistically, they’re still up there,” he said. “This is small potatoes [compared to] a lot of things out there."

--> is this supposed to be a justification? and calling DV "small potatoes" is outrageous... and i know i said it above but since when does someone else doing something wrong make it ok for you to do something wrong?

this interview should genuinely make him (and most of the top execs in that building) fireable
how is this diseased thinking still running massive organisations in a 1st world country?

im actually livid - it's a disgrace

Has he actually been proven guilty yet? or are they still in the accusations stage?

still an accusation - but just like last time the prosecution have determined there is a case to answer

and given its the same woman as before and the fact that the case only fell through last time because the woman recanted her claims (a common occurrence with domestic violence cases) and the fact that its i think his 3rd run-in with the law in 12 months (or something like that)

@rossihunter2 re: Foster, I’m not surprised one bit. Each time they say something they say something a bit different. Lies Lies Lies

The Washington Redskins are a disgraceful organization. Since the 80s and early 90s they have taken one hell of a fall from grace.
