John Nagy on twitter:
"John Dorsey is getting tons of love today, and rightfully so, but he stepped into two of the best GM situations. He inherited incredible draft capital and cap space in both KC and Cleveland. Most fans won’t admit it but Sashi Brown and Scott Pioli set Dorsey up for success."

ive been saying this since the browns got rid of sashi - maybe it wouldnt have worked but they never let him finish what he was building which was an awesome situation for a gm to come into

give dorsey credit for spending all this capital and money but sashi tore down an aging and terrible roster and turned the browns into an organisation able to have young talent with high pedigree and pay guys

I saw the age thing with the Browns, but honestly that part doesn't worry me. It's not like they're Seattle when they put together the Legion of Boom from the ground up and you knew they were getting 5-7 years out of them even after they gel'd. They're writing a lot of big checks in Cleveland and looks like they still want to go out and spend just as big. How long can they keep this together? What's that window look like? Especially with all the guaranteed money they put on the books.

Marc Sessler: On NFL Network, @MikeGarafolo just noted Earl Thomas and the Browns were NOT engaged in talks as of last night.

Garafolo response to Sessler: Yes, was told on all fronts they were not working toward a deal, as had been reported. Not saying it can’t happen at some point but it was not happening last night.

so good point from aditi kinkhabwala on nfl network about leveon bell and the media spin on the money he got:

on the face of it it looks like his holdout didnt work because the av/y is nominally lower than the steelers but bell's camp has always been more worried about the same money that every player is mostly worried about: the guarantees...

the steelers deal they offered for 15m/yr last year had only a reported 18m total guaranteed
the jets deal is reported to have 28m total guaranteed... that's a major difference
