Around the NFL: News and Rumors

i went back and watched some of jimmy g from this week and the 49ers must be pinching themselves - they got a polished looking franchise qb for a 2nd round pick in the middle of the season - he was dancing around the pocket and was so light on his feet and balanced while he was reading the field and making beautiful touch passes
I am glad the Browns didn’t trade for him.

george iloka's suspension has been overturned he now has to pay $35,464.50 fine - makes sense that it was overturned given the nfl's reasoning for juju's suspension (that the taunting was the final straw rather than the hit itself)

Unbelievable. Worse commissioner ever
I can't say ever. There are a lot of years I didn't pay attention ( which in and of itself might be the point )

I would definitely agree he is terrible for the sport and the league as an entertainment venture.

Shouldn't Sports Commissioners be held to the standard of the President and have to run against someone in order to keep his job? I mean I think even DeMaurice Smith, the head of the NFLPA had to win an election against someone to keep his job.

the NFL is a business rather than a union - it doesnt even pretend to be remotely democratic...

John Ross placed on IR. His season: 1 touch, 1 fumble. Which had a worse first season Ross or Perriman?

Ross - he was healthy and showed not even an ounce of desire to play - perriman at least seemed to want to play football and learn the playbook (and did less damage to the team as an injured player lol)

Sashi Brown has been fired - sounds like Hue Jackson has won the internal battle between coach and GM
John Dorsey is thought to be the front runner to replace him.

Browns gonna Brown yo - no matter how unsuccessful a team is, quitting after 2 years is never gonna work out - and are you really telling me that Hue Jackson has done well coaching - literally no roster is bad enough to win only 1 in 28 games and the browns dont even have the worst roster in the league right now so how Jackson convinced jimmy haslam that sashi brown was the problem ill never know

just to emphasise on sashi - i realise he passed on wentz but look at the players he's picked for the browns in the 1st 2 rounds in stead:

id say 5/6 is pretty damn good

what pisses me off is you know that a "football" guy is gonna come in, reap the rewards of all sashi brown and paul depodesta's work and add a qb and then the "football" establishment is gonna pat themselves on the back for being able to claim that these analytics based guys were no good

haha

i know they're in the division but i really want to like the browns because they are the ultimate underdog - and yet they do everything they can to make me hate them - legitimately if they had allowed sashi brown to work we might have eventually got a great football movie called "moneyball 2" but nope browns gonna brown and destroy any good will i had towards their franchise - im now rooting for them to fail hard

and now hue jackson is saying stuff like this:
"Jackson said he didn't want to hire an OC with a bad offense and make him take the fall. Says it's possible he'll hire one for 2018"
  1. He just threw his players under the bus
  2. He has always said that he makes his bread and butter on offensive playcalling
  3. Admitting that someone would be 'taking the fall' is pretty honest - at least other teams pretend its not the headcoach saving their job
  4. How does this guy still have the locker room after 1-27 and saying stuff like this?
