Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Remember the report earlier about Darnold returning to USC to avoid the Browns? Now it's Josh Rosen's turn and there is a new report saying he may return to UCLA in order to avoid the Browns. He also prefers being picked by the Giants.

Apparently Josh Rosen has doubled down on his effort to avoid to the Browns. In an interview before tonight's bowl game, Rosen stated he'd rather be a lower pick with the right team than a high pick with the wrong team. So his choices are to declare that he will return to UCLA for one more year or declare for the draft but pull a Elway/Eli and get himself out of Cleveland that way.

"I'd rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher at the wrong team,'' Rosen said Tuesday as the Bruins prepare to play in the Cactus Bowl tonight against Kansas State, per Josh Weinfuss of espn.com.

I don't understand these quarterbacks. They're trying to avoid going to Cleveland, like the Browns are somehow destroying the quarterbacks. The truth is - quarterbacks drafted by the Browns all these years were all trash and wouldn't amount to anything of significance in any other team either.

If I'm Rosen, I'd go there knowing I'm getting a statue next to Jim Brown and I don't have to do much to achieve that status.

He'd be smarter to wait until the end of the college football season and than say he has decided to go back and finish up his college eligibility because it will be better for him in the long run, than be immature and say you don't want to play for a particular team.

Honestly, I'd pocket pick #1 money and worry about diploma/Browns later. If I'm really good, I'm bound to sign at least one more good deal with the team of my choosing and if I'm not, I'm set for life, regardless.

players / salary / signing bonus

1. Myles Garrett $30,427,372 $20,259,698
2. Mitchell Trubisky $29,047,426 $18,256,100

really not that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.

That's what I mean. I'll declare for draft, if Browns want me, I'm a Cleveland's biggest fan ever. If they don't, I'll go to New York and sing my way to the bank. The only thing I don't want to do is to go back to college. There are no health guarantees.

I agree, absolutely no reason to go back to college except to help your team win a national championships. Rosen and Darnold will develop more in the nfl than college and get their money. We have seen players have decistating injuries in their senior years that have had major impact on their careers.

Landon Collins chose to use pretty strong words to describe teammate Eli Apple in a radio interview:

"There is only one corner who needs to grow up and we all know who that is," Collins said, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN. "That would be the only person I would change out of our secondary group. Besides, the other two guys, [Rodgers-Cromarie] and [Jenkins], I love those two guys. They play hard. They love what they do. That first pick...he's a cancer."

To be completely honest I think I would rather go to Cleveland than New York with how much is going on there. Cleveland's issue isn't talent, it is how young their team is. If they are able to get some key veteran contributors they have a good o-line when Thomas is there, have a solid running game, and have a solid stable of wide receivers. Plus they injected some youth into that defense. They are better than their record shows. If they were able to protect the football better and not be -40 or whatever they are in turnover ratio, I think they would be a pretty decent team.

Eli apple may be a difficult person in the locker room but his mum has also had brain surgery - you gotta think that’s playing on his mind so there is absolutely no need to air this stuff in public
I completely agree. Classless to bring this up to a reporter who will mince words to get more clicks.

Not really sure where to put this, but Russell Wilson has accounted for 87% of his team's offense and 97% of his offense's touchdowns. If that's not an MVP season, I don't know what is.
