Around the NFL: News and Rumors

BB wants to retire? Hmm I feel like he wants a bit more first. I think hes so close to 6 and maybe even 7 superbowls that he wants a record that no one will pass. Oh and regarding jimmy G, i've been saying for like 2 seasons that whoever gets him will be in luck with talent. Those moronic browns should have given up the farm for him, or the jags, or the bears. Hell how good would the vikings future be if they got him next year? I assume the niners are gonna franchise tag him though. He might get them back to the palyoffs next yer. Derek carr was dogshit this season and gruden got a stupid contract lol. The NFL truly is a LOLcow.

Belichick wanted to do him right, he had a lot of respect for Kyle enough that he knew they would treat him better than any other team. Belichick knew he would excel in his offense, almost like he wanted to trade him to a place where he knew he could show Kraft that he was right in wanting to move on from Brady.

Well I don't think its like that, we were losing him in the offseason anyways because of his contract. We had to get something for him. We had the problem of having a great QB ahead of him despite age. Ideally I wanted to keep him but how could we keep him as number 2 for another few years?

Pats offered him $18M a year, showing that Bill was ready to move on from Brady and move forward with Jimmy.

I agree Jimmy G looks like he’s going to be insanely good. I’m excited to see him next season. Robert Kraft is a moron for forcing the trade.
Would have been funnier if Bledsoe never got injured and Bledsoe forced the trade. Dynasty never happens and Brady will is a normal qb with a bad offensive system and no qb

So many IFs in the NFL, so many. If Bledsoe never got hurt, if Rodgers never fell to the Packers, if the Falcons never traded Favre, etc. If Bledsoe never got hurt, considering Brady was a 6th round pick he may have been cut for a better backup QB.

Honestly, I think Belichick saw the entire situation as a Favre/Rodgers deal and figured Brady would have been retired by now and Jimmy would have already been the starting QB. So BB wanted to do what the Packers did, and what the 49ers did to Montana. Packers said they had a young QB in Rodgers, 49ers said hey we want to move on to Steve Young, and BB wanted to start the Jimmy G era.

New England isn't the only place where there is drama with a long time QB. Apparently the newest rumor out of Green Bay is that Aaron Rodgers opposes the idea of Russ Ball becoming the Packers GM. Mike McCarthy also feels the same way.... Interesting.

What’s there to dislike about Ball?

Plenty.

He has no scouting background. Only in recent years has be started sitting in on film sessions in an effort to pick up some player evaluation skills.

More so, there are reports that Ball is, like Ted Thompson, largely anti-free agency. That’s surely what gets Rodgers, right there.

Per some reports, Packers happy to patiently wait for the outcome of Fangio's HC interview with Chicago and if still available to interview him for a DC role.

Dynasty never happens? You are assuming that Brady is the reason they have done so well. I think it’s more likely because of BB and his management/coaching prowess. IMO any number of QBs could have come into that situation and done just as well. Look at how Jimmy G. developed in the system as a back up. Brady is a good QB, but he’s far from being what many make him out to be.

Kraft is an idiot for allowing Brady to manipulate the trade of Jimmy G.. And Brady again proves he is a piece of shit.

What's the Over/Under on how many years of that contract does he see through?

well just financially and with the move to Vegas you have to think that they cant afford to fire him less than 4 years in - but then he was the last raiders coach to last more than 2 years... this deal is gonna kill the pockets of ownership

I love what Gruden did with the Raiders, but let’s be real, the team that won th super bowl in Tampa in 2002 was built by Dungy and the GMs. He just motivated he’ll out of them. I’m a fan of the hire, but the contract is awful. Curious to see what he can do with Carr.
