Around the NFL: News and Rumors

I totally forgot that Bridgewater played a little bit (against CIN), but I'm letting go of Bradford and have Keenum compete with Bridgewater for the starting job. I'm also drafting a QB just for a little insurance policy.

they are all 3 free agents... they wont be able to afford to bring more than 1 back

Yeah, I think any chance Keenum had of being their longterm solution just went down the tubes. The debacle wasn't all his fault - the defense was like - wait, who are these guys? But Keenum was very bad. It is clear, if they need to throw the ball and he's under center, they're cooked.

Reminds me of our "defense" at PIT late in the season.

This is a difficult choice to make indeed. I'm rolling with either Teddy or Keenum, but I'm drafting a QB though.

it's a genuinely terrible dilemma to have - all 3 are essentially unknowns - keenum is good but not good enough, teddy is a question mark and bradford is a question mark - yet they cant just role with keenum - i really dont envy them

It's less difficult than it looks. Easier than betting on a college prospect in draft.
They have a QB that will get them through the season (either Bradford or Keenum would do) + Teddy. Their running game will improve, too and make life easier for everybody.
The most difficult bit would be money side but I think they tag one and give Teddy "prove you're healthy" deal.

Despite his flaws, I'm glad we don't have this problem with Flacco. I really hope it's a smooth transition from Flacco to his inevitable successor.

how are they gonna keep teddy and another qb though? all 3 will require large contracts to keep because on the open market they'll get money thrown at them - teddy may have to take a prove you're healthy deal but it'll be a 1 year deal that still costs a lot of money it's not gonna be a low guaranteed money contract because with teddy's injury he cant take the risk of not making that money

Teddy might just have to do it - who is going to throw big prove it deal at him after injury he had?

The Donations from fans to Foundations continue, this time Eagles fans are donating to Vikings' Head Coach Mike Zimmer's Foundation. Eagles fans say this is an apology for how other Eagles fans acted and their behavior.

I hope this donating to players/coaches foundations continues into next season.
I love this trend, atleast we can claim we are the reason it happened lol. But seriously it is awesome.

there are a few desperate teams with lots of cap space who im sure might be able to throw some of it his way for 1 year...
I am to lazy to look up the exact number but because their entire team is fairly young, the Vikings are top 5 in cap space. This isn't going to happen because the nfl doesn't like trades, but in a dream world if I were the Vikings I would sign both to a 1 year deal, have them compete in camp, trade the loser, and extend the winner. More realistically, I find it hard to not go with Keenum. I get it he had a bad day, but I think he is a great fit for that team. My least favorite is actually Bradford, as you know exactly what you are going to get out of him; slightly above average but injured half the season. Teddy was never that good IMO... he couldn't really make big plays and doesn't seem to me like the guy who could ever win you a superbowl.

yeah and they likely can only afford to keep 1 of the 3 too - and they only have until free agency opens to work out which one...
Lol Deion Sanders said the other day that they should keep both Keenum and Bridgewater because “both of them combined won’t bring in 20 mill a year” I was like whaaaat idk about that.
