Around the NFL: News and Rumors

So all according to Peter Schrager and i kind of agree with him on a lot of this

Josh Allen is going to the Browns. I believe it, he believes it, Kiper believes it and John Dorsey GM of the Browns is going to make it happen. Dorsey traded up last year with KC and drafted Patrick Mahomes of all players. Even ahead if Desean Watson complete bonkers. I dont even think drafting Allen would be as bonkers of an idea considering its rhe AFC North and we have Flacco, while the steelers have Big Ben. Josh Allen is the closest thing to both of them in this draft.

Also, the Bills are obviously going to try and get in the top 5, if the Giants really dont want a QB (idk why they wouldnt) then they can trade back to 12 and get a plethra if picks. Problem is the Giants may not want to trade that far back. Buffalo might have to call Colts at 6 and use that pick to trade up with NY at 2. Interesting note here is that Buffalos GM and NY GM have worked together in the past so they are familiar with each other.

Another note i did read somewhere that Arizona could be looking at Mason Rudolph at 15. As crazy as it sounds, Rudolph could remind Cardinals GM of Carson Palmer and if you here their GM speak you might actually think hes stupid enough to make that pick.

Pat Mahomes made a lot of sense ahead of Desean Watson given the team he was going to but it is certainly reasonable to suggest that Allen is the most Mahomes-like qb in this draft

I think the lack of options at getting into the top 5 means the Bills are going to have to work harder to get in the top 5 - they only have the giants and browns as potential trade partners

the thing that works in their favour is that the colts will absolutely be happy to trade back and collect more picks - chris ballard knows that he needs picks and pieces to put around his franchise qb and he knows that he essentially has to keep building and fixing the decimated roster that ryan grigson left behind - the problem for the bills is that they might have to give up virtually the same capital that they would offer to get to number 4 or number 2 just to get to number 6 at which point what can they offer to get a team to jump back 2 or 4 places to them especially given what the jets just paid to get to number 3 from that 6 spot

but its definitely worth bearing in mind that it has been reported since around the senior bowl time that there are some teams that have 1st round grades on mason rudolph - that definitely is something to watch because if a team like the Cardinals or Jags or Saints or even the Patriots have 1st round grades on this guy then he's gonna go in the 1st somewhere but I certainly dont see him surviving past the beginning of the 2nd going to whomever of the high picking teams missed out on a top qb

I really think Lamar Jackson could be in play with miami too - and if the bills miss out on a trade up i could see them buying high on lamar jackson too

it would be crazy but imagine how stacked the ravens board would be at 16 if 6 qbs went before the 16th pick...

Ya thatd be insane. And it is more than possible. I have a feeling that QBs could go 1,2,3,4 too if someone tries to trade ahead of Denver and looks at the Browns #4 pick. Then Denver could even feel hard pressed to draft Rudolph at 5 but that could be wishful thinking. I expect this years draft to be complete mayhem. Last year was pretty crazy for a weak qb class. This year weve already seen a trade frenzy and i expect more of the sane in draft day. Its gonna be a spectacle in Dallas

Per Dan Hatman (former scout) on twitter:

  • Teams connected with early selections of QBs: CLE, NYG, NYJ, DEN, MIA, BUF, ARZ, NE (to some degree BLT, LAC, PIT) QBs connected with starter level expectations: Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Jackson, Allen (to some Rudolph, Lauletta, White) Not enough dance partners...
  • Regardless of how you stack them, there are not enough QBs in the draft market to satisfy all the programs who would love to infuse talent there. You better not sit back and wait if you want to add someone to your QB room.
essentially... expect there to be qbs taken higher than you expect (as per usual) and expect some teams who the media expect to get qbs to miss out

I’ve been looking at rumours around which teams are most interested in which qbs and found this interesting...

Browns are seemingly linked with Allen
Jets are apparently favouring Allen
Bills are apparently most interested in Allen
Broncos most intrigued by Baker Mayfield

Nothing I’ve seen has linked Darnold or Rosen to a specific team which suggests to me some serious smokescreens...

Is it me or does it seem even worse than usual this year?
doesn't matter which QB the Browns draft, he will be a bust.

Schefter: Patriots are trading WR Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick to LA Rams for the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and a sixth-round pick, league sources told ESPN.

well odell certainly isnt going to the rams then lol - wow - another shakeup

I wish we were as aggressive as the Rams. I know offseasons don’t win you Super Bowls, but it would at least show the fans that we’re very committed to winning

LOL. Rams just gave up their first for Cooks??? Terrible trade, Pats now have 2 first round picks.

i agree but they wouldve still been successful without cooks! i feel like most of their players are rentals.

i think they are gonna extend him tbh - otherwise giving up a 2 for watkins and a 1 for cooks for 1 year apiece would be strange
and tbf the rams do have a fairly bare cupboard at wr tbh this helps them a lot (at least this year)

i wonder if qb is in play for the pats now - they have a backup spot they need to improve and i wonder if they spend a 1st on a qb to get 5 years of control in stead of just 4 and that way they lock down the backup spot for the rest of brady's career and hopefully have an heir apparent like jimmy g was supposed to be

I hear ya, but I'm damn sure not giving up my first-rounder for a player like Brandin Cooks though.

I think it's either OBJ or Rosen. I knew BB will draft a qb high after he traded Garoppolo
