I think there’s no way they come out at some point like: “well we wanted to keep the trade but he was gonna miss the first 4 games” it had to be something that’s either immediately drastic or potentially really bad if he bends the wrong way

I don’t disagree. I can’t imagine we would say we don’t want to risk him not being ready until Week 5, for example. I think we would take that.

There has to be something long term that makes us concerned about taking him that there’s enough risk to his health causing us to say no. I bet if it was even just a 2nd round pick we would make the deal.
 
Former NFL OL Will Compton is trying to compare this to the Ryan Grant situation in 2018 and how we failed him to chase Crabtree. Tried saying how he signed with the Colts and played in 14 games and started day one lol. Grant literally lasted one more season before retiring..... clearly our medical team saw something that foreshadowed him not playing much longer in the NFL, let alone just one final season.

We’ll probably never know because the Ravens are never going to make a health (or really any) comment about another teams player. Shit, they don’t comment on our own players’ health situations.

To be fair, that is true but Grant did only play 1 more year in the NFL so he was never going to last all 4 years of the contract we were set to give him. So that failed physical ended up being justified that he only played one more season. The only thing that can save us now is that Crosby gets traded elsewhere, a team finds what our medical team found but still takes the risk anyway. Only for Crosby to miss the first half of the season or something, in order to validate why we failed him in the first place.

Those can all be true. We have historically been a good team and we don’t have a long history of this stuff but we have failed people before. I’m kinda 50/50 here because I think Crosby is still worth it and it’s a meniscus not a freaking Achilles or ACL or anything…right? Right?

Crosby has had some nagging knee issues for the past two years. It's possible what has been shown throughout the ravens physical is a concern about his longevity of playing football which probably doesn't make trading two 1st rounds picks for him and having to deal with a big cap hit as well worth it at this moment
 
The Ravens were offering Crosby two first-round picks for four years, at least for 70 games. If they saw something in the exams that indicated a high probability he would miss a large percentage of them, I see the cancellation of "that" deal as reasonable. Besides, nothing was signed by anyone. If someone complains, it proves 100% that they were making illegal deals. It's not ideal, but it's business. Too much focus on engagement from Twitter and the media

And I get that. But they obviously knew the consequences of pulling out and the fact that this was the plan. That means the pain of backing out is Crosby PLUS being behind the 8 ball. And with all that pain they still decided to do it.

That makes it very clear to me there are only 2 options. That medical was GNARLY. Or Decosta thought he made a big mistake and used the medical to pull out.

Yeah, EDC doesn't strike me as a full blown moron to try to pull something like that.
 
Couldnt raiders have just done their own physical and send over reports and all that shit to ravens ahead of time just to give them an idea on whats going on
