Signings, Cuts, Trades

Personally, I would love a TE (been saying it and saying it :) ), and Ertz would be an awesome fit. But if a trade were to occur, Philly would have to absorb some of his salary. His cap hit is 12mil. If we were on the hook for just his salary, 8mil and we could negotiate an extension into the trade and signing that would extend him a year out on Andrews, in case he doesn't re-sign, then I'm in. But if that happens or Kyle Rudolf or something of that nature, then we are in store for a AJ Green type signing at WR..... which I still don't understand the opposition to. He was coming off injury last year and playing for a team that often seemed like they had moved on from him.

btw the cap hit for a trading team would only be 8m - the restructure number on his contract is dead money that isn't traded

haha - yeah the eagles are as hard up against the cap as it gets - no way they can absorb any of ertz's cap by choice lol - apparently they're also looking for a 3rd/4th round pick and i'm just not sure that's worth it for a guy who'll 8m if a team trades for him, only has 1 year left on his deal and is coming off a season marred by physical issues

i dont mind the idea of adding another TE - but i'm not just bringing in a TE just because they play TE... i dont want kyle rudolph unless he's super cheap - not sure he does much for this offence honestly

Take this for what it is worth which isn't much. Last year was Zeitlers lowest pff ranking since 2011 and by far. Hes had some actually elite grades like 2 or 3 years ago. The giants had like the second worst line in the league last year so I'm hoping his relative down year for himself was a function of scenery and not a decline. Whats funny though is given that supposed pff down year, he would have been the second highest ranked player on our team last year.

having seen a fair amount i think it's safe to say he was often the only guy who wasn't collapsing the pocket - so many times he's there on an island blocking his guy with the pocket collapsing around him - the rest of that OL was like a sieve

it's certainly possible (especially as a run blocker) that the awful surrounding talent may have had an impact on his grade because it made so many of his blocks harder to make or less impactful

regarding his elite play a couple of years ago, i sounds to me like there might have been a slight decline in play-level but he's still been steady and solid on a sinking ship

Found this article from the other day. Interesting that the last paragraph was exactly what I've been thinking. And I also post it because it's the only time in print I've actually seen someone say we missed Hayden Hurst - - - something I lamented about when the trade rumors were in the air in 2019.

I agree with what you say, but I think the situation last year had more to do with a player who was frustrated to be on a team that just couldn't do anything right. If that 8mil can be spread into an extension at a reasonable rate, and it can be set to go a year beyond Andrews, that's damn good. 3/yr 18mil-20? and we give up a 3rd or 4th this year to do it? Idk, I think that's a win

I like the signing. Plus I think I read he's only missed one game in 6 years. I'm guessing we can do 2 more similar sized signings with the space we have left Bowsers probably one of them.

Yeah this is good to hear. If that's true, then maybe on a good line like we've got here when everyone is healthy, he could be a real nice addition.

Please announce a WR to us today and not Green or Watkins

WalterFootball gave the Zeitler signing an A+ grade

Tom Brady: Takes less so the team has money to build around him.

Everyone Else: How does he keep winning Super Bowls?

To be fair, I’m sure between he and Giselle they have more money than they know what to do with. Makes the decision a little easier lol

that's a lot of money for a tight end lol - think that makes him 3rd highest paid in the league, 2nd most in terms of guaranteed money
