Signings, Cuts, Trades

i think most of these scenarios are unlikely with WRs but in terms of fits and who's available

if we're paying top dollar at the top of the market then the guy i want is:
Corey Davis

if we're paying a decent chunk of money but not at the top tier then the guys i want would be:
Marvin Jones
Sammy Watkins

if we're looking only at guys who were cut and therefore won't count against the comp formula:
Adam Humphries
Emmanuel Sanders

this comment is why we have these boards. We can't say this anywhere else and have people understand!
And this is why I love these boards lol. I can be myself

I have a feeling something is brewing for us. EDC is one aggressive dude and knows our weaknesses. Golladay is off the table because we simply can’t outbid for him. I’d say ARob is still on the table especially if they want OBJ. I’m also not discounting Thielen (see ARob for reasoning). I’m willing to bet we’re not even eyeing guys like Green or Watkins. That’s a bunch of BS from beat writers. But hey, even if we do miss out on those top tier guys, there’s cheaper but still talented options for us such as the names I’ve mentioned quite often. He’ll get someone to really put this offense over the top and help Lamar tremendously. In EDC I TRUZZ

Doesn't matter if we had prime Randy Moss or Jerry Rice if we never use them

Kyle Juice is still awaiting an offer from 49ers. Would he be a candidate to convert to TE? That would be a sub 2M contract for a player we know is reliable at blocking and with his hands instead of pursuing a proper TE in or the draft.

Ha Ha Clinton Dix, anyone. Didn't play last year. 2019 was 19th rated on Pro football focus. Has never missed a game due to injury... I guess I just jinxed him if he were to come here. ;)

No and no. He's a pass catching FB and he's going to cost more than $2M.

Oh will you stop being a Debbie Downer, Sizzle

Sure I can! We just need to focus on getting line help first and foremost, and then go after WRs. I'd even be down for another TE before spending big money on WR. Play to Lamar's strengths. When Lamar had time in 2019, and even in the rare occasion of him having time in 2020, he excelled even with the likes of an injured Marquise Brown, Seth Roberts and Willie Snead as his starting WRs.

I like this. I’m extremely interested in trading for Ertz. Him and Mark would absolutely wreak havoc. Absolutely agree on the offensive line comment as well. I’d rather have Lindsley than a big name WR.

i will say this in terms of expectations - OL and WR seem to have been the focus in free agency terms from all the media etc.

but the only 2 guys in the last week or so it's actually been reported we might have interest in were Autry and Dunlap...

it would not shock me, especially with the strength of the draft classes at WR and OL, if any splash we make is at EDGE/DL again... especially with the way that OL and WRs have been getting paid the last few years and not so much for some notable recent free agent EDGEs...

I wouldn't be completely shocked, but I'd also argue that those guys are more bargain bin types than any major splash. Autry is a little more unheralded but will also be 31 at the start of the season, so hard to consider him a splash necessarily.

I just think when it comes to the ED/DL guys in FA, there isn't really anyone to make a splash on. All in the range that I'd anticipate we might spend.

Carl Lawson
Judon
Melvin Ingram
Barrett
Bud Dupree
Dunlap
Preston Smith
Clowney
Ngakoue
Houston
Vernon
Hendrickson
Aldon Smith
Takk McKinley
Romeo Okwara
Reddick

that's a pretty nice list to me - i realise that it's not a world-beating list but there's a lot of good players on that list

and doesn't even include some of the less touted guys:

Floyd
Bowser
Griffen
Markus Golden
Autry
Benson Mayowa
Dawuane Smoot
Samson Ebukam
John Simon
Kerry Hyder
