Rodgers is an elite QB who does not have weapons. Tom Brady did not stop being an elite QB when his numbers dropped off a cliff because the Patriots had no weapons. So we can drop the first point right away.
He was also the number 2/3 option for the Rams. The thing about being the number 2/3, if you are a low end 1, is that you get the single coverage and therefore you get to get great numbers and therefore set yourself up well for the next contract. Being the number 1 is a way to put up stats but if you are a number 2 with a great number 1 next to you you can put up great stats (this is called the JuJu route and applies to both the Rams and Buffalo hence why they are favorites).
As for direct comments I do not even have to do that much research to start. Our own coach said it and after the Ravens traded Brown he specifically cited this offense as a reason he did not want to play here.
If your argument though is that the Ravens are the team of last resort for WRs that sort of is part of the reason that the Ravens are going to be stuck with either the worst leftovers or having to overpay. You basically made my argument for me in the last sentence as yes if a player has nowhere else to go he will come here but that sort of exemplifies how good players will try anywhere else first.
1. No, Rodgers was an elite QB who also doesn't have weapons and isn't playing well. Russell Wilson has plenty of weapons and nobody would say he's playing well. Same for Kyler Murray and Tom Brady to an extent.
There's a difference between WAS and IS.
2. Very few of the teams you listed would qualify as that though. KC doesn't have a #1 WR that constantly double teams, and neither does GB. Buffalo has many weapons and they spread the ball around quite a bit, so if Odell's objective is to pad stats, Buffalo is a horrendous landing spot, and so are Rams. Unlikely LA is bringing him back anyway.
The double coverage is mildly relevant, but you're also pretending like every defense double covers the #1 WR (regardless of whether they're elite or not), which obviously isn't true. Cooper Kupp isn't catching 12 passes a game if he's double covered every game. Many teams play zone coverages that involve guarding areas, as opposed to players. See what the Ravens did to the Bengals.
3. Hollywood cited what I said he cited... he didn't feel valued here, because the Ravens didn't need him to win. He wanted to go someplace where he felt more valued. And he was correct... the Ravens didn't need him to win. There's weeks where he contributed very little and we dominated the game.
YOU think that means he doesn't want to play here because he doesn't get the ball enough. That would be impossible to argue, given how frequently he did get the ball.
4. No, my argument is that basically the entirety of FA WRs is literally the worst leftovers and having to overpay. Like the entire group is that way. There's very few exceptions to that.
The solution to finding quality WRs is to draft them. That's basically the approach for just about everybody at this point. A lot of the teams out here trading for high priced WRs, perhaps not coincidentally, are also heavily struggling to win football games at the moment. Not surprising to me at all.
