lmao. Agree he will be fine for a year or two.
The thing is - Sizzle is not capable of takes as bad as these two. Not even if he tries hard.
Not sure. He wouldn't have the advantage of being out of the league for while, so DCs won't forget how to defend his offense.lmao. Agree he will be fine for a year or two.
Clark, Campbell and one of Zeitler & Powers are the only realistic savings there, and to be honest, they're all pretty good value at those prices, so if any of them wants to stay, we'd have to consider it.We currently have 41m in cap space, after the RS signing
The maximum cap space we can create is 23.3m by cutting Zeitler, Edwards, Clark, Campbell and Moses.
* Zeitler 6.5m
* Edwards 4.3m
* Clark 3.5m
* Campbell 6.5m
* Moses 2.5m
I don't think it makes sense to cut Moses with his small salary and I could see them restructuring Zeitler. I think Zeitler and Powers are connectdd and it's possible we only keep one of them.
The minimum we create would be if we kept both Zeitler and Moses and only cut Edwards, Clark and Campbell (retired). This would create an additional 14.3m in cap space. It's also possible we extend Edwards to lower his cap hit for the 2023 season. Some of this will truly depend on the new offensive coordinator.
Also important to call out that we'll only have 42 players on the roster at that number, so take another $6M or so to get to 51 alone.We currently have 41m in cap space, after the RS signing

if Campbell wants to continue playing that that's great, but I have a feeling he is going to retire after the season. Pretty sure Clark is gone, either via trade or cut. I'm hoping we restructure Zeitler as he's one of the best guards and extending Powers would be great as long as he isn't more than 6 to 8m. Edwards saving us 4.3m could be cut, but I'd be we restructure his contract.Clark, Campbell and one of Zeitler & Powers are the only realistic savings there, and to be honest, they're all pretty good value at those prices, so if any of them wants to stay, we'd have to consider it.
Things will be tight if Lamar plays on the tag. Roquan will be our main signing and we'll be down to vet minimum signings at best. Looks like the WR and CB help will need to come from the draft.

Powers wouldn't be a savings as you mentioned above, since he isn't under contract next season. He's a free agent.

If Geno Stone is in line for Chuck's role they might give him a longer deal with a low first year cap number. They'll give Nick Moore a longer term deal too - it's the Ravens, he's a special teamer - it's going to happen.Restricted:
Tyler Huntley
Geno Stone
Nick Moore
Del'Shawn Phillips
Kristian Welch
Trystan Colon
Big decision here is whether any of these guys actually get tendered. Feel like Geno Stone is probably the only one that might, but feels like all of these guys would be retainable on a cheaper 1 year deal vs. the tender cost.
Also important to call out that we'll only have 42 players on the roster at that number, so take another $6M or so to get to 51 alone.
Are you saying Gus is a no brainer cut candidate? Why? $4.5 M isn't cheap but the days when you could reliably pick up a late round or UDFA RB who can reliably do what he does are long gone at this point. A lot of mid round RBs are useless these days, never mind lower down the draft.zeitler would have to be an extension not a restructure
edwards and clark are no brainers
I personally see a lot of real contributor names on that list. Additionally even with all of them, the team still has holes. And the on top of that the team does not have a lot of picks and with the Lamar probably being tagged situation, probably no money either. So I do not share your sentiment at allI'm just looking ahead at free agency and I feel like we should oddly be in good shape sans Lamar
Unrestricted:
Lamar Jackson (likely to be tagged if I had to guess)
Marcus Peters
Ben Powers
Justin Houston
Josh Oliver
Demarcus Robinson
Jason Pierre-Paul
Justice Hill
Kenyan Drake
Sammy Watkins
Kyle Fuller
Kevon Seymour
Daryl Worley
Brent Urban
Ja'Wuan James
Steven Means
Vince Biegel
From this group, I'd mainly be looking at Peters, Powers, and Houston to see what it would take to retain them. Maybe Oliver as a blocking TE as well. Most of everyone else listed are veteran stop gaps that we can probably retain for close to the minimum if we wanted.

yes, that is what I meant on Zeitler and extending him a year would save some cap space.zeitler would have to be an extension not a restructure
edwards and clark are no brainers
campbell's almost certainly retiring
moses is cheap enough to keep unless you are absolutely certain that daniel faalele is ready (and even then it might not be worth it)
right now though, we need to be able to reserve 45m of that cap space for Lamar's franchise tag
He might be playing for the Ravens next year but I have extreme doubts it would be at his current cap number. If they can't work out something, he's going to be cut at that number.Are you saying Gus is a no brainer cut candidate? I like Geno better than Clark and yes, Clark is absolutely a no brainer. Hopefully we can trade him for a day 3 pick. Don't think we would need to draft safety as we have more than enough. Wouldn't be surprised to see Stephens back at safety and again Geno, who hasn't played much since Williams came back will replace him well.I meant, we'll likely only keep one of Powers and Zeitler, so there's a little bit of savings on the other salary.
Gus is getting older in RB years, so I wouldn't really want to extend him unless he's willing to give us a team friendly deal to make up for missing most of the first 2 years of his contract.
I think Clark is gone too, we can 80/20 him with Geno, but I think we'll miss his run defense when he's gone. And that would put Safety back on the list of draft needs again, unbelievably after all the resources we've poured into the position., but we'd only need late round depth.

Oh yeah 100%. Just saying that $41M is inflated right now and is about to drop by a decent amount here real soon.with futures/reserve deals that'll be done within the first week of the end of our season though tbf
but yeah right now we technically have 41m in cap space but our effective cap space is 31m - we'll need 45m for lamar too (albeit rule of 51 means when he signs the tag it'll only be 44m initially lol)
if lamar's on the tag when the league year begins then that's basically the offseason moves over outside of the draft and veteran minimum moves
