I've actually had this thought over the last 24 hours or so. Sucks seeing all of these guys leave but also kind of refreshing that we have a new coach that can get some of his guys vs. just running it back with guys that may have been favorites in the previous era. Don't get me wrong, I think a couple of these losses will hurt, but we also just don't know how much Minter and Co. are saying that they don't need them because of whatever changes they have in mind.

He's currently signed through '29. The potential "new deal" will probably involve a potential pay raise (currently averaging like $29M/yr on remaining deal), but most importantly, lowering his current year cap #. We inherit him at a $30.7M cap number, which will likely be reduced by at least $20M by the end of the week.

I don't know that they'd do anything other than maybe add a void year on the end years-wise, but I imagine they'll find a way to get him a substantial portion of his deal up front, rather than in base salaries (which it currently is). The Raiders have historically been a very stingy team in terms of signing bonuses and upfront $.
 
Full circle moment... Jets acquire QB Geno Smith from the Raiders meaning Geno is back where he started his career. Jets also are looking into Carson Wentz as his backup.

The last two days are the textbook example of how fans rarely even know what they want. If you went on social media, you'd think the sky was falling by how many of our FAs were signing elsewhere. A team that just fired its coach, missed the playoffs, and with a fanbase that overwhelmingly doesn't like the GM anymore, it's really odd to see so many of them cling to the large trough of very average players leaving for other places.

It's sounding like the offers he's gotten to this point have been sub-$30M and I have to imagine if they were willing to pay $22M for Linderbaum, they'd be open to a bit more for another pass rusher. I would guess someone is going to pay up and it's not going to be the Ravens, but doesn't mean they won't keep the option open.

Guys that know a system and can come in and help install it and fill in for a year or two. Not used to being in a situation where the usual type may no longer be the type.

What I'm leery of with these comps is that AAV matters a lot less with long term deals than short term one's. I'm guessing him turning 32 this year, and coming off major injury, limits the appeal of signing him to like a 3-4 year deal. I think he'll be getting 1-2 year offers.
If so, that's tougher for the Ravens.

They can always add some void years but there are obviously ramifications to that as well.

I don't see this is as something overly realistic either way.

He was a draft success, a 2x All Pro, who's always played hard, changed position to benefit the team and never shies a way from a tackle, which is unusual for a corner. I don't see anything there for a fan to hate.

Aside from his personality annoying some people, is it just that he aged and isn't the player he used to be that makes people so angry?

people hate the personality lol
means that he gets no patience when his play-level drops (and CBs do typically have inconsistent seasons year-to-year... part of the nature of the position)

Could you imagine Hendrickson on one side and Crosby on the other !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who you gonna block ?

We would go from one of the worst pass rushes to the best.
