What a turn of events. I’m pretty fucking disappointed and speechless. This team, man. Just heartbreak after heartbreak.
 
My guy is working off limited info right now because well, it's a fucking whirlwind there too. But did say it was the knee that caused them to back out and didn't feel confident he was going to be ready for camp and maybe the start of the season, and they weren't comfortable losing their picks for that risk.

What due diligence could they do prior to performing a physical? Seems they depend upon the other team to disclose abyss issues, then confirm with the physical.

Well we obviously dont know.

But if it truly would've been nothing else than that's the best case scenario in a shit situation. Doesn't take away from the Crosby loss.

And for what it's worth it seems tremendously unlikely that EDCs plan was lose 7 of our own players and do precisely nothing but bring in Simpson on a minor deal. They stated their strategy was to be far more aggressive than usual
 
I mean technically we can still retain Linderbaum, sign other free agents who already signed, etc. we just make them better offers. It’s happened to us before and it won’t be the last time it happens.

I don’t think Crosby trade impacted any decisions we made in FA or the lack thereof.
