Signings, Cuts, Trades

backing out of this is not gonna be worth it. I think we’re gonna regret this really bad. Like what tf did our doctors see that seems to be such a surprise to everyone?

So sounds like that Hendrickson nugget I got way earlier today was because there were some questions about the physical. Got the results back later in the day and opted not to move forward. Conversation with Trey started earlier today and has ramped up post that decision obviously. Think they’re pushing for that one but there’s a lot up in the air right now.

so you won’t have to die. Probably. Good shit!

No one’s gonna say it directly but all of these texts I’ve seen are indicating that it was the results relative to the cost. Even my guy said that he gets the feeling if this was a straight FA signing, he’d be official tomorrow. They’re devastated that they don’t have the player but they just weren’t comfortable with the risk.

If that is true, that is indeed pussying out like the others in the league are saying.

That's actually trash on the FO's part if true

I know because of HIPPA we'll never know publicly what caused us to back out and what they found but damn it feels like we need to know so we get some clarity on this. I'm guessing his knees are basically shot to the point where he may not even last a few more years playing in the NFL so it wouldn't be worth giving up the picks on a guy who may end up retiring before we get any value from the trade.

Our only hope now is that some other team trades for him, and they find the same issue that we failed his physical for and he fails their physical too to show the rest of the teams why we backed out.

But on the other hand, they’re devastated to lose the player and know they came out on the wrong end of this by missing out on the first wave of free agency.

So hard to know what’s up here. I know I’m relaying stuff but I guess I’d also say to heed caution because it’s a lot of emotion right now.

I get it, I really do, but this is a meniscus. Unless there’s more to it we don’t know, that’s equivalent to someone failing someone due to an ingrown toenail. This isn’t a back or significant knee injury here. Sure it’s 2 1st round picks but it’s still an elite player. I seriously question this move.

I don’t think it’s about the picks in the sense that we didn’t want to surrender them. I get that you’re risking a lot if something goes sideways. The likelihood of anything going sideways is so low, it’s practically nonexistent. This isn’t Dennis Pitta, Justin Madubuike, Sergio Kindle, Zach Orr level situation. Anquan Boldin had a meniscus iirc and he played just fine.

But why does it matter that they are "devastated"? Clearly not enough to go through with the situation. That doesnt check out to me at all.

If we are gonna act they way we did, which is to pull out, how could you possibly have any other perspective than "thank goodness we dodged a bullet"

Especially after Jaire they don’t want to play around with that stuff
Jaire had a PCL and a litany of many other nicks and dings. It’s not a comparable situation.

I will say there must be more than anyone’s saying because it just being a meniscus is seriously doubtful we would decline for that. I also agree it’s not like we’re not impacted here. I truly believe EDC would rather have an elite player than the two picks

It could be both.

You could be thankful you avoided a significant risk but that doesn’t minimize the loss of an elite player you thought you had secured. It’s like going to Thailand and…well, I’ll tell you another time

Because the entire offseason hinged on this move and now they’re back to square one with one still good but definitely not Maxx pivot option and not much else.

They didn’t want this to happen but felt it was a choice they had to make. And for that, they hate that they lost the player.
