Signings, Cuts, Trades

I'd love to get teller for one year and have him compete with Emory. If Emory wins, who cares about the 4 mil spent. It's effectively Emory's rookie year in a position he didn't prefer last year (said he felt better at LG). If you give me JS and Teller, I feel comfortable with bullock or a rookie at center. I don't feel comfortable with a new center and "rookie" rg

i feel pretty confident, given the values in the class, that we'll have a pretty good shot in R3-5 at adding a C (or C convert) who has a chance to start in year 1

i like bullock a decent amount, and this is not to count him out, but:
1) we need at least 1 more C because we barely even have a backup C right now
2) competition is always good especially when replacing a long-term starter at a position

For me there's a clear top 6 in terms of C prospects:
Sam Hecht
Brian Parker II (would be a RT conversion - adds value with his versatility)
Connor Lew (coming off an injury, will not be ready until training camp if on schedule)
Jake Slaughter
Trey Zuhn III (LT conversion but has over 100 snaps at C in college)
Logan Jones would be the most interesting fit in that he's almost a budget version of Tyler Linderbaum (even being an Iowa guy) - he's a run game weapon in zone concepts, but severely lacks length and can struggle with longer NTs and he'll be a 25 year old rookie (he's only 6 months younger than linderbaum who's been in the league for 4 seasons already lol)

But you wanna invest in AJ Brown? Lol
Absolutely. AJ Brown is a borderline top-5 WR and people would be talking about him more if he didn’t spend most of his career in run first offenses.

I would say Crosby and AJ are about equal in talent for their position and he is still 28 years old with 3-4 dominant years left.

I’d rather just trade up in the draft for one of the T’s and extend Flowers honestly. I only think we need an upgrade at WR2, and a minimal one at that. I’m not sure we’re in position to trade for an AJ Brown

A lot of key guys are older now. Andrews, Stanley, Roquan, Marlon, Hendrickson, and Henry. All could be done within the next 2 years or declined to the point they shouldn’t be starting. I may be a bit pessimistic with Stanely, he’s only 31 but he has had strings of injuries.

Flowers feels like in that awkward in between of do we pay him or let him walk. He would likely get more money elsewhere, and he’s not a top 10 guy the franchise likes to hand money to.

is he not a top 10 guy?

there's a clear top 6 for me:
Chase, Jefferson, Nacua, JSN, Collins, St. Brown

but then are there clearly 4 guys better than Zay in the next group? maybe but it's definitely close if there are...
Lamb, Nabers, Pickens, London, Wilson

those would be the best candidates - idk that i take all 5 of those guys over Zay... he's clearly in that 2nd tier of guys

he definitely used to be a top 5 type guy

not convinced that's who he is anymore (he's still got elite play-strength but idk if he's as explosive as he used to be)

I would put a bunch of other guys listed over Zay. Garrett Wilson I would drop below though. All the other guys listed I think are better by a mile and would trade for in a heartbeat, with the exception of Pickens because of his personality.

Agree to disagree, I believe AJ Brown is still one of the best X receivers and wins consistently downfield. He’s been limited with the Eagles offense having many weapons and a Mickey Mouse offense that averages barely 3K passing yards a year.

He would help this offense tremendously especially in the red zone. Andrews is the only real threat in the redzone at this time.

I like Vega but unless Fano falls I’m scared to draft IOL high again after the Lindy situation. I only bring up Fano because he can go outside in a pinch and if we have to pay him as a T then so be it

Scared to draft a certified plug-n-play starter for 4 years. Crazy.

Man, what does Snoop need to do to get some respect around here. Dude's offense beat the Bears and Packers last year, probably two of our best wins. For me, the more he plays the better he gets.
I'd argue Derrick Henry's offense beat both of those teams. Henry had about as many yards as Huntley combined, but had six touchdowns against the two for Huntley.

No one is suggesting Huntley is a bad backup, but he doesn't move the needle at all for an offense and he severely limits your play calling.

It's a shame he's so physically limited because he seems like he could be a low end starter with a better arm.

I certainly don't watch other teams with great interest, but it's apparent a lot of people don't if people are clamoring for Teller.

Every single Browns fan has more or less said he's just fallen off a cliff and it looks like it isn't getting any less steep anytime soon.

I’d love to build a fortress via the draft but what good is it if we let them walk after every 4 years because they were first round picks? And I like Vega

Lew may be good but I want nothing to do with guys coming off injured anymore. We need someone who can actually compete and not maybe compete at C. Another position, sure, maybe—but not OL.

not going to pretend he's awesome or anything special

but his ability to set the tone upfront alongside a lot of the highlight blocks is very valuable - which is why he's now on his 3rd contract despite some inconsistency down to down
I reckon our O line is better with Simpson replacing Vorhees even if we don't replace Faalele with anybody, play with only 4 men line.
