Signings, Cuts, Trades

This team was awful in the redzone last year and I do not see it getting better without another outside threat.

Henry is fine in the redzone, but gets stuffed behind the LOS a lot. Lamar is not really a run threat near the goal line besides extending plays. Andrews is the only real threat and is steadily declining.
Lamar really doesn’t have the corner fade in his arsenal so I’m not sure an outside threat provides a lot of improvement in the red zone. I’d like to see the focus on improving and bulking up the O line rather than spending on an expensive WR. We’re going to need another receiving TE, Deebo mentioned Waller. Darren has always been a favorite of mine and I’d luv to see him come home on an inexpensive, low risk contract.

We haven't had players to utilize fades or toss ups. Agree on solidifying the OL. Would rather we just roll with the TE we draft but we do have the cap this year.

If they were interested I bet Waller could be signed on the cheap. Coming back to Bmore could provide him with a boost, and provide a solid red zone threat. Also hoping Tez gets some reps and has a breakout season.

So did EDC force Marlo and Roquan to take a pay cut? Or is he soft

For sure dont got that fade in his game yet.. i think it maybe too risky for him idk. Id love to try it on early downs though.

I think you put him in a tier or two above me. I think AJ is borderline top tier if not the top of the 2nd tier.

AJ didn’t need to do anything during Saquon’s historic run last year, and last year they arguably had the worst OC.

Meanwhile we point to Zay last year, and yes he was great, but you also had Bateman and Likely out a majority of the season. Plus add in the fact Monken couldn’t utilize his WRs to their strengths.

My list would look closer to this, in no order besides tier:

Tier 1: JJ, Chase, JSN, Nacua, Nabers

Tier 2: Brown, Lamb, St. Brown, London, Collins, Pickens, McMillan, Pierce

Tier 3: Higgins, Waddle, Flowers, Smith, DK, Thomas, McLaurin, Addison, Sutton, Moore

At best Zay may be 14th, but I could see an argument for the other guys in that tier above him. He’s more like 14-20.

lol alec pierce is a 1-dimensional vertical threat
he's great at it - but he's a 1 trick pony

similar for dk metcalf

nabers could well be tier 1 but has only played 1 healthy season in the league

not sure TMac was good enough to be thought of that highly after year 1

i'd take zay over smith, waddle, mclaurin, addison, sutton, moore, DK, pierce, TMac without a question (thomas shouldn't be anywhere near these lists)

which leaves the same list as earlier:
JJ, Chase, JSN, Nacua, Nabers, Lamb, Brown, ARSB, London, Collins, Pickens, Higgins and Zay - 13th at worst
you've already said you'd take him over Pickens, I'd take him over Higgins for sure - and there you have it, he's 11th

redzone fades are the lowest percentage play in football too
so not really losing much by not throwing them

the bigger loss is the fades outside of the redzone - but again it's low percentage

As a cb, id be happy not having to worry about a wr fade in the redzone. We just havent been able to utilize fades or those type of wrs. Its really just not lamars game. What borruw and dak does with their wrs on the outside is great.

Regardless, one less play choice, one less thing for the D to defend, the more likely we fail. Especially true in the redzone where the short field somewhat limits play selection anyway.

Agreed! Lamar usually gotta do some magic on scores in redzone while other teams scoring off normal passing concepts.. our redzone offense has been limited for sure then you watch bengals trash asses and they doing all kinds of shit lol including the use of chase brown as a threat

And in the redzone there's really no threat of a QB sneak, or a designed QB run other than maybe a naked bootleg. Challenges Declan faces in improving redzone efficiency, and offensive strategy in general. We can't be so dependent on big splash plays and improvisation("magic"], especially against the better defenses.
