The Playoffs, The Playcalling and The Refs

Here’s why I’m concerned. The right defenses have found a method, and Roman hasn’t countered, and neither has Lamar.

For me the obvious solution should be to NEVER leave an empty backfield, because it takes away the single biggest advantage we have and that’s the RPO, even if we are designing a straight up pass play on third and long, pistol with Ingram and play fake, every single time. Lamar didn’t do well in the empty sets today and they blitzed him
Heavy and he didn’t respond.

That, along with using the receivers. Where the hell is boykin? Snead? These guys have shown that they can make plays, use them. The TEs have been blanketed lately, we have to take advantage

right but also lamar has been absolutely lethal all year out of empty - spread out the defence and letting him read creates a crazy unfair advantage for the offence

i know he didnt play well all the time today (was much better in the 2nd half) - but throughout this season he's been awesome against the blitz and even better out of empty

Our TE's scored 2 of the td's today.
One was a flip on a play clearly designed to look like a run and force a decision.

One was a great catch and run.

Otherwise, they were really blanketed, Lamar had to make ridiculous throws to get them away from defenders and on their fingertips. Those plays happened on sheer volume.

Yes, but except for that last drive I do not think I disagreed with a single penalty. Most of them were just players being dumb and even then I kinda agree with the one on Pierce.
You agreed with the personal foul on Thomas?

The hit to the head early wasn’t being dumb it just happened. Never saw what Ferguson did. Pierce’s was absolutely dumb.

Yes but it wasn’t working today because they sent the house and Lamar was taking pressure and not responding well, equalize that pressure by making the rushers play with a little bit of discipline, that little bit of run threat should be enough to neutralize the pressure enough to give Lamar a run lane or a clean step up

Earl was run into by BWill and was falling, he didn’t even hit Allen just fell on him

not sure if that actually did happen today tbh - will need some reviewing

I forgot about the Thomas one. Yes that one was stupid; I get why it was thrown but it was still stupid. My premise was though that maybe 2 calls I disagreed with in the Bills favor and probably 2 I disagreed with that went the Ravens way and so it kind of balanced out.

I have to agree with @Sami84 in assessing Hill. I’m not impressed. He doesn’t get a lot of chances but he doesn’t make much of his chances. You also have to wonder if he doesn’t show enough to get more chances. Kinda like Tim Williams or Correa where people said the same thing. RB is easier to make an immediate impact too especially here

Hansen just made a great point to close redzone:

changing of the guard in the AFC at the most important position - Patriots have 3 losses - they've come to 22 yr old Lamar Jackson, 24 yr old Deshaun Watson and 24 yr old Patrick Mahomes
