I’m also going to get a Mac book next year. Still have a very inexpensive pc laptop for workshops that I do on college planning, I’ll be upgrading to a MacBook next year. Not sure which one though.

a lot of british factual&entertainment tv still hosts their software on pcs but im not sure for how much longer

I remember getting a pc laptop when vista came out ams I insisted on xp. I never upgraded that computer to vista or whatever the next upgrade was.

xp was way too slow when i got a pc with vista but for years i refused to upgrade to the next one because i liked vista - windows 7 was ok but i never liked the way it was laid out and never ever wanted to upgrade beyond windows 7

You liked vista. You must have been the only one. Lol

Now that isn’t surprising. I used to keep my old laptop because some sites I couldn’t get onto unless I had explorer 6.0 or greater. The backoffice part of the website. Some insurance companies websites. I’m a fiduciary investment advisor and also write life insurance and need that backoffice for the software.

christ - its crazy how many major companies/corporations still live in the dark ages in terms of hardware

also internet explorer is finally an unsupported browser - yet my mum still uses it lol - she hates change so much she will use a broken computer/phone/browser just to avoid change

i finally changed to a macbook about a year ago - windows lost its way after windows 7 (or even vista tbh)
Absolutely HATED 8 and, to an extent, 8.1. I don't hate 10, but I do need to find a way to fix an issue I've been having since I got 10 almost two years ago: random computer freezes (clock doesn't move nor does my cursor type of freeze).

What are the pros and cons of a Mac compared to PC based on your experience with Mac?

the computers don’t crash. I’ve never had a virus and I like how the files are organized. It took a bit getting used to but it wasn’t difficult. Now the computers cost a bit more but they last longer. You know when the pc starts slowing down. That doesn’t happen to a Mac unless your hard drive is full. I never had an issue with my first Mac. Just wanted a larger screen,

Never had a virus? Damn! But I appreciate the feedback. I'll do some more research because if I choose to get a new laptop down the road, I'll consider getting a Mac.

You absolutely should consider Mac. If you do anything with graphics, it’s a no brainer. I don’t, but I believe it’s a much better organized computer. If you really love excel word, PowerPoint, outlook, you can purchase Microsoft 365 for Mac.

yeah macs are really difficult to fuck up with viruses etc. they have natural antiviral software i think and if you add your own antivirus stuff it shouldnt ever really be a problem - ive had no issues on my mac with viruses at all - occasionally i have to restart my browser and the laptop to update it but i often dont bother until it starts to seem a little laggier than usual - probably doesnt help that i always have 25 tabs and 2 separate windows constantly open in google chrome

yeah ive got all those on my mac and it all works well

i remember about 7 years ago or so all the rage in the tech industry was a hackintosh - i.e. running apple operating systems on non-apple hardware but to create one is beyond mere mortals like myself
