There technically are french beers, but we don't drink them usually. Only one I do know that's good is Fischer which is my go to most of the time (1,50€ for 65cL and it's around 6° I think). Apart from that the beers we drink are from Belgium, Germany or Netherlands basically. A few brands: Heineken, Kronenbourg, Carlsberg, 1664, Pelforth, Leffe, Grimbergen are the ones you'll find usually at parties. Also Chouffe is my GF's favourite.

i really like leffe -its not that commonplace in the uk but its nice when we can get our hands on it

Totally agree. It's probably more common in France although a bit expensive (at least for the student I am), but it's really smooth. Like easy to drink but still pretty flavoured.

Once I went to Belgium with friends and we went to this Delirium bar where the lowest degree of alcohol was 8,5. The cheapest beer was 9°. After two pints I was real fucked up. Didn't help that I drank some Absynthe afterwards. Was tripping balls that night.

haha wow- i was in ghent and went to the famous 100 beer bar which was cool and they are all like 8/9% too
i hadnt drunk absynthe in a long time until this weekend and had like 3 shots of absynthe - the hangover last sunday was unbelievable and i had to get on a plane home (dehydration on the plane was no joke) - i definitely was hungover for at least 2 days

maybe, although when i was part of a sports club we used to down a bottle of cheap white wine before going into the pub and getting a pitcher (4 pints) of beer each and sometimes if we were unlucky we had to down that too... that was what it used to take to get us going properly - sometimes it didnt really get to you until the 2nd pitcher

oh we used to do that all the time lol - 750mls though
often if we knew we were pre-drinking for a club night or something some of us would get a couple of bottles lol
mostly we'd strawpedo the bottle to make it go down quicker and easier

Doesn't make up for the fact that cheap white wine is disgusting though
