I really really hated the pick 100%. I thought we needed playmakers, and like others, I was already calling for Allen. But to make myself not look as great, I also cussed out the TV when we drafted Mosley. ( I wanted Brandon Cooks)
To be fair, while I was very excited for Mosley, I wanted Cooks, too.
Just to show off how incredible I would be as a gm (joking) I just want to list every player I wanted us to draft.
2012: Man I never loved a player coming out of college than Harrison Smith. I was a huge ND football fan then for some reason I can''t tell you. I remember getting in the car after track practice and hearing that Harrison was picked at 29. I was so happy and fully believed he was the next Troy Polo. Hindsight, I can say I was right on this one. Upshaw didn't really do shit for us. I think he had 30 games straight without a sack.
2013: Ouch this draft was awful in every place. 4 Players this draft I really wanted. 3 were picked after us and one I thought would be our pick. I wanted Bjorn Warner, but he was gone. I really really wanted DeAndre Hopkins, but I didn't think he would make it to us. I then wanted Alec Olgetree. When we were on the pick I was begging for Keenan Allen. He was the first-round talent but dropped. Hindsight: If we somehow got Hopkins, damn. Anything would have been better than Pot salesman Matt Elam.
2014: I really wanted Brandon Cooks. He and Mosley are the same level, but Mosley fits us. I approve.
2015: Would have died for Marcus Peters. Wouldn't we all have though? I also wanted Landon Collins, but once again, I wasn't special.
2016: I wanted Bosa, but he went to high. I was shocked we didn't take Tunsil until the video came out. I refuse to give Ozzie credit for making a very good pick considering the other 5 options that high were God Damn Carson Wentz, Goff, Bosa, Eliot, and Ramsey. I think we can all agree Stanley is amazing and what we needed, but all 5 of those players are superior.
2017: I really wanted Jonathan Allen and I was shocked we didn't take him. Also wanted to trade for Hooker when he dropped. Too early to tell here.
Okay if any of you are still reading, my point wasn't that I should be a Gm. It was that Ozzie thinks he is some kind of genius, he ignores simple stuff, focusing on what they could be, not what they were. I know it is crazy, but I'd say 90% had better first round records predicted than Ozzie sucking Bama ****. Option: Upshaw, Elam, Mosley, Perriman, Stanley, Humps, or Harrison Smith, Keenan Allen, Brandon Cooks, Landon Collins, Stanley, Allen? I just think Ozzie needs to retire.

^^ I know the draft isn't that easy, but where ever Ozzie gets his scouts from, he needs to quit and hire from these boards lol

Someone on the old boards also called Jay Ajayi in the 2015 draft to us in the 3rd round. I remember yelling at the top of my lungs in the 4th round when he was still available for us to nab him.....
instead, we used the 3 picks we had in the 4th for Z-Smith, Buck Allen, and Tray Walker.

I wanted Ajayi badly for us. I mocked him to us in the old boards in the 2nd round....**Sigh**
But I also mocked Maxx Williams to us in another mock and when we picked him I was ecstatic, really hasn’t turned out well for us.
Hindsight is 20/20 but did any of us mock Ryan Jensen, Brandon Williams, Rick Wagner, or Juice to us? Ozzie does his work late rounds and lands great players that we often don’t think of.

it might have been you, there a video posted there and I saw. Man did I cry up and down for this guy and told a Dolphin fan you found yourself a good RB if his knee is fine and BANG look at him.
Maxx, in my opinion, is still going to be good. His injuries are getting in the way, the talent is there IMO
I personally wasn't a fan of Ajayi. Didn't think he was a good enough pass catcher and the health concerned me.

if you're being honest and I believe you are, its proof you've out evaluated the raven front office these past few years. I know I have. great talent makes itself apparent. its mind boggling our FO is struggling like this for this extended a period of time. and I agree they should retire with honors.
So, I'm not a huge draft guru who will be like, "In round 5, why didn't the Ravens take RIchard Sherman?" But just to join along, here's some of the players I really wanted to be Ravens in the corresponding years.
In 2011: I was really high on Jimmy Smith and Torrey Smith. I came away happy.
In 2012: My top two guys were Cordy Glenn to replace Ben Grubbs and Alshon Jeffrey.
In 2013: I wanted one of Tyler Eifert, Desmond Trufant, Keenan Allen, or Deandre Hopkins. Really upset that the Ravens managed to walk away with zero of them. I was actually super hyped up for Brandon Williams.
In 2014: I was huge on Marqise Lee in the first round, Brandin Cooks, or Zack Martin. I thought Mosley was an elite talent, but I didn't think spending the 17th pick on a linebacker was the best use of that particular pick. In the second, I really wanted Allen Robinson and of course that didn't happen. I had no idea who Jernigan was, but most people seemed to be thrilled about the pick, so I kinda joined in on the hype.
In 2015: Byron Jones, Ronald Darby, or DGB would have been my first round pick. My two favorite players were Marcus Peters and Todd Gurley, but yeah, we see how that turned out. I was just super excited to get a receiver in the first round. I was REALLY excited for Maxx Williams in the second. The one guy I'm absurdly upset we passed on is Grady Jarrett. Thought he was a second round guy. Really upset he went one pick after the Ravens fourth round comp pick.
In 2016: I was really excited about Ronnie Stanley, but if I had my way, Zeke Elliot would have been the pick. Second pick would have been Jalen Ramsey. I was really upset that the Ravens didn't give up a third for the fourth pick. Quality over quantity here. But then again, what would the Ravens do about their left tackle situation without Stanley? Put Wagner or Hurst there? Yikes. In the second, I would have been fine taking Myles Jack. My first pick was Kevin Dodd and I really think the Ravens expected him to be there when they picked, but when they traded back, I wanted one of Mackensie Alexander, Cody Whitehair, Tyler Boyd, or Mike Thomas. If they were going to take a linebacker, I wanted Su'a Cravens or Dieon Jones before Correa. In round 3, I really wanted Kendall Fuller.
In 2017: Mike Williams was my guy the entire way, but I had a feeling he'd go to SD, so my second guy was 100% Marlon Humphrey. In round 2, I wanted Dalvin Cook and I think Biscotti alluded to wanting him, too, but obviously he went before the Ravens had a shot. In round 3, I wanted Elfein or Feeney, but again, went before the Ravens had a chance to pick.

I'm only 16 so 5 drafts ago I was 11 right. I've always been extremely mature and knowledgeable about football for my age, but regardless young she explains why I loved flashy picks. The guys who were stars in college... get this; Stars in the NFL (!!!!!) haha I deffinitly couldn't get those later found picks too well, but sometimes I think we need to pick guys based of football skill not measurements, or how athletic they are. There deffinitly have been picks I was happy about who turned out bad, and the opposite. I had no clue who Timmy j was like the guy above said. I honestly didn't even think of Marlon Hump for a second until his name was called. (I thought for sure Jonathan Allen or Oj Howard) One of my favorite picks was Carl Davis, and he's just a body. I also thought Chris Moore would be a stud, but he only is on special teams. Random but I actually really wanted Case Keenum, and his reciever Patrick Edwards. I was a star junkie and just was amazed at their production.
^Edwards had 20 Tds and 1800 yards in one year. Too bad he didn't turn out guy balled out. Almost 20 ypc also

i wanted haha clinton dix at the time because of the need at safety but didnt go apeshit when we drafted mosley in stead - not in the way that i went apeshit about perriman immediately as it happened and then calmed down and bought in to give him a chance (and i still think he has a chance just not sure how much of a chance)
i hated crockett gillmore but i loved terrence brooks lol - i wasnt a fan of perriman but was a big fan of maxx - you can pick and choose the ones you hype up and down but in the end its still roulette

I do not think we are developing a lot of the talent we have brought in. Elam had a good first year and then fell off the map, Terrance Brooks was a pick I also loved. He showed flashes and this also dropped off.
Timmy J played amazing his first year especially when asked to fill in for Ngata when he went down with an injury (may have been his 2nd year not sure)
Carl Davis comes in and pushes everybody around, shows flashes his rookie year and also drops.
Perriman, year one goes down with injury. Shows flashes of impressive body control and speed in year 2 and completely disappears this year.

its a worrying trend that most of our players have sophomore slumps - even CJ slumped...
you could go even further - james hurst and john urschel played well at the end of their rookie season when they came in, maxx finished his rookie year well, so did buck allen, so did crockett and more and more
it really is a trend ive thought about a lot in the last couple of years - we bring in good players who could go on to be great and we bring in useful guys who could go on to be good/solid starters - but they never kick on - they often regress
