The General Front 7 Thread

i dont think you're wrong that we could do with more rotation in general but i dont know why they changed up the rotation for the titans after the snap counts vs the dolphins turned that line into a run stuffing beast with the ability to get pressure up the middle - now obviously the titans are a better oline but their weak(er) elements on their line were up the middle so i dont know why we couldnt continue with the method that seemed to work
Games 1-8 we were in base about 37% of snaps. Yesterday’s game we were in base d 71% of snaps to combat their running game. They definitely need to work on rotating Henry into the game. I’d rather see Henry than Davis, for sure.

See, I'm not quite as confident with Onwuasor. The athleticism is there for the position, which isn't overly surprising given that he's a converted SS. My main concerns are with his ability to read the keys. He's been hesitant to shoot upfield on the low-hat read, which had lead to struggles in the running game. He's also had issues with containment on cutback plays, and those two aspects are among the most important for a successful WLB. I feel that he hasn't trusted his instincts enough. I'm personally still stewing about the fact that he bumped Maurice Canady off of Eric Decker on their final TD, but otherwise, he's mostly held in coverage. It's a tough read overall since there are potential pros and cons, but his floor is worrisome in my eyes. Bowser would be better suited as a 4-3 SLB in my eyes given his ability to come off the edge and cover. It's difficult to count on him as a certainty, but the skill-set certainly meshes. The differences between the WLB and SLB partially depend on the subset of the base, but they are typically fairly significant.
Shit is that really what happened on the last Touchdown...

we really miss urban at the 5tech - we could have had 3 dynamic players in on base snaps and still had henry come in fresh on pass downs

Its true what they say you really need special players to two gap at a productive level, you cant just put any big guy out there. When BWill is out we're left with just one capable starter in Pierce

I'm wondering why they're not putting Wormley instead of Davis on base package.

Pierce only played I think 7 snaps on Sunday. More than likely due to illness.

i think the reason the shine has worn off so to speak is that he's been misused since brandon came back - we should be throwing situational pass rush snaps his way but we arent doing that enough
If it weren't for Doom and McPhee, I'd be wondering if Pees understands the notion of designated pass rush or rush package.

If Tim Williams is healthy then Pees needs to unleash the beast for the second half of the season. I really just want to see Williams pin his ears back and rush the passer to see what he can do.

We already know what he can do. He's made fools of Joe Thomas, Alejandro Villanueva and Donald Penn on the rare snaps he's played. But I guess it's not enough *shrugs*.

it's just stupid at this point that he and tyus arent being used more on obvious passing downs - maybe ZDS is slightly stronger up the middle but he hasnt turned it into much pressure so why not use the guys who have shown flashes of great potential

I have a strong feeling that if our pass rush, particularly Williams and Bowser, can step up to another level then we will make the playoffs. Our defense would explode if we can get Williams to play to his potential and USE him! Its time to unleash the predator!

It is man. I like ZDS and I've been his sole supporter at some point in the offseason, but we have two guys with vastly better potential, what does he offer that they don't have? Why hinder their developpment when he hasn't shown much himself? It's crazy... And Harbs will say it's because they made a mistake on ST, fuck outta here.
