WR/RB Thread

if perriman were to be traded for a draft pick what do you feel is his value? i personally feel he is worth a 4th or 5th at this point only because he has shown nothing thus far.

the trade would not make sense, to this day we still don't know how good Perriman is and honestly, I can't even blame him. At some point the play calling has to put him in positions to succeed and watch what he does

unfortunately this organization has yet to develop a pro bowl wr since moving here in '96. i thought torrey might have a chance but they only sent him deep

Well they haven’t drafted many receivers in the top three rounds and only two since Flacco. Torrey and Perriman.

At the same time you still should be able to find someone. Torrey Smith is the only WR the Ravens have drafted that reached 1,000 yards in an NFL season, and he's only done it once. Since 1996, the Ravens have drafted just one 1k WR, that's a problem. Plenty of the top receivers in the game were not drafted in the 1st round, I think we've taken plenty of receivers recently but we've just flat out failed to hit on any of them and that's an issue when we talk about WR, It's probably the position I do not think we have an eye for.

To be honest I think we have a legit shot at Calvin Ridley, if he falls to us I think we'll take him.

need to replace receivers coach bobby engram. he has not developed anyone since he has been here. calvin ridley would be a flop here because he would not have the right coach to develop him and the play calling would not benefit him. unless you are a polished veteran that comes here you stand no chance in this system.

Engram has developped a ton of WR before coming here, he has nothing to prove

except i kind of agree - we havent seen a receiver come here and take the next step in their development really - all receivers that come here are kind of the same year to year no matter where they should be in their development

slightly off topic but recently i randomly dreamt engram was fired and i have no idea why

I’m not saying that all top receivers are drafted in the first round, but we’ve only drafted two in the top two rounds since Flacco was drafted. I’d like to know how many we have drafted in rounds one through four since and including the 2008 draft. I’d look it up myself, but I don’t have the time today.

I really miss the Boldin/Mason/Rice days. We had some reliable workhorses that just flat out made plays. We haven't had that since Forsett and Smith Sr. I really hope we draft or sign a feature back. I wanted Lamar Miller so bad. I don't like this RBBC. Never have. West and Buck aren't long term solutions, and Dixon is too unreliable. To bad Barkley is a top 5 pick.

I like Engram, plenty of the players here have talked about how much they like him, I really think it would be a mistake to let him go.

Reguardless you should still find someone preductive and we struggle to find guys like that. I’m terms of our WRs we just don’t often find guys who produce, not even speaking in terms of a 1k WR when have the Ravens drafted a WR that was worth keeping around? I don’t recall and that’s an issue.

Rejoice, there are probably 10 RB I'd take as feature backs in the next draft.

Hmm, that's weird, I thought he was with Pittsburgh and helped developped Bryant and Brown, but I went back to check and it was actually Pitt (the college). My bad then.
no worries. i just want to start seeing guys we draft begin to produce and the receivers we have drafted aside from torrey have struggled to contribute. torrey ended up being one dimensional but i sure do miss him because he and flacco had that deep threat connection working. maybe one of these drafts ozzie will finally hit the jackpot with a pro bowl receiver
