WR/RB Thread

Did Jamaal Charles officially retire? Might want to bring him in for a workout. Even @70% he's still faster than Allen and apparantly Marty doesn't want to use Turner.
Jags add RB Charles to banged up backfield

Jaguars signed RB Jamaal Charles to a one-year contract.

With Corey Grant done for the season and Leonard Fournette (hamstring) out for Week 6, the Jags need a change of pace behind T.J. Yeldon. 31-year-old Charles wasn't his former self in Denver last season, but he did average a respectable 4.28 yards per carry for a bad team. That being said, Charles probably won't be worth the hassle in fantasy leagues. Yeldon should vacuum up most of the work against the Cowboys on Sunday. It's possible Charles' stay in Jacksonville is short.

mark thompson has been signed to the practice squad - its cool that we've managed to keep all 3 udfa rbs on the team at some point this year

although with how gus edwards has started in his first game since he was elevated i dont expect thompson to challenge him anytime soon

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by how Edwards performed yesterday.

Honestly I wasn’t surprised with Edwards performance at all, looked exactly like who we thought he was...

I think we found our Buck Allen replacement moving forward. Edwards is an average RB who's a perfect fit in this scheme who's running style likely punishes people come the fourth quarter. If he can prove his worth as a receiver, Buck Allen likely goes to the patriots or something where they can maximize his talents.

I still think if Damien Harris is on the board when we pick, we'd be foolish not to take him, he's not an elite prospect but by god he's a perfect fit here and likely puts up pro bowl numbers from year one here.

not to me
Well I don’t know what to tell you. He averaged like 4 ypc yesterday. He ran hard. That’s what he’s going to give you. Did you just not watch him in the preseason? You realize this is the same player a lot of people thought had a chance to make the 53 right? The same guy who dominated RB touches and played well in every game until he got hurt. It was obvious the Ravens liked him and it was obvious why. He’s absolutely nothing special, just a solid RB. Nothing surprising there, what did you expect him to get 2 yards a carry or something lol

We definitely need a new RB, I was against drafting one last year because of Dixon and Collins but Dixon isn’t ever gonna be healthy and Collins needs someone to compliment him, he’s a puzzle piece not the whole solution.

I really liked Edwards as well in the preseason. Thought he made some very impressive runs and I feel he’s keeping up with that but it’s also one game so we’ll see. So far though I like it

You mean to pick Harris in the first round?

they're stylistically very different runners with very different skillsets...
we absolutely need to acquire a young runner this upcoming offseason though

when i watched him in preseason he didnt look like he had any skillset that would cause any problems for nfl defences - he was the definition of a "preseason" workhorse - he looked like a nailed on practice squad candidate playing against other teams's backups

he showed something that was different vs the titans - and he showed a skillset that we are missing with dixon out - he showed good vision in the hole and nice cutting downhill - he gets downhill fast and with good positioning

i was surprised that his skillset translated vs better competition - and btw i never thought he had a chance at the 53

ill be honest i absolutely expected him to get 2 yards a carry or something
