WR/RB Thread

True. We are a WR graveyard.
Only recently, because Steve smiths career was rejuvenated. This year has been bad all year, it’s what I haven’t completely given up on Perriman. The guys been wide open all year.

And out last two OCs are already 6 feet under. However prior to that we used to be a springboard to head coach.

To those Larry Fitz fans out there, he just got extended through 2018 so no chance of him coming to Baltimore next season as many hoped.

I'm not interested in Fitzgerald. He is like 35 now or older. I don't want FITZGERALD. Ravens need the next WR to rack up 15,000 yards. A Wife Receiver whose best play is in front of him. Not an old receiver who has already done so.Unless he would be a possession NO.3 receiver and mentor some young talent. That would be totally cool. But the ravens would bring him in to be the savior of the offense. And think it's found the No.1 receiver.

There is a lot of receivers in free agency this year. Fitzgerald mentoring one of Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee and Paul Richardson would be very ideal. Paul Richardson is a young mike Wallace that runs better routes and attacks the frootball. He is one of hardest receivers to cover. But I would go with Robinson if he hits the market. He is like a young Fitzgerald. He can win on any level and facet. He is 6'3 1/2 217 lbs yet runs routes like a 5'10 slot receiver. He is very elusive after the catch. He has good deep speed. He excels at attacking the ball and making acrobatic catches. Ravens need a Wide Receiver that can win over the middle and big play. Ravens receivers are usually to one dimensional and predictable. My opinion take advantage of the big free agent class at Wide Receiver and draft Oline players.

I’m with you on this. I’d prefer a young wr in the draft and Robinson and this isn’t taking anything away from Fitz, who is still a terrific player.

Fitzgerald is an absolute exception here. He's playing at a very high level at the moment, sadly this might not be a discussion worth having since he signed an extension but he would be a #1 WR reminiscent of Steve Smith Sr. If he were to arrive here he would easily be our #1 and be Joe's favorite target. If I can recall Palmer has routinely had a QB rating of 100+ on throws to Fitzgerald, I mean they guy is that type of receiver that QBs dream of throwing to. He's everything you can ever want in a prototypical WR and I don't think his age would stop him from being great here.

Ravens got really lucky with SS. He is a rare exception. He was one of shiftest most explosive route runners ever. He could lose 2steps and have enough to get open. QB rating throwing to him is only part of the equation. Fitz doesn't have it to consistently get open and make plays. Being the ravens No.1 isn't saying much. What if he did give you one good year?? You are back in that boat looking for castaways again. Ravens have to find the next WR to score 100TDs. Not the last one to do it. The washed up WRs with 1-2 good yrs left is getting ridiculous. Every year fans hang around the roster cuts like buzzards around a 90% eaten up roadkill. Players slow down with age. Fitz was never that fast to where he can lose a step. And he isn't making 1300 yards 12 TDs all contested. Thankfully he is resigned. Don't get me wrong I would like him here. But not to be the savior of the offense!!

I just don’t see how fitz would ever leave the cardinals without retiring

You can have a guy like Fitzgerald here and draft a WR early. I'm not opposed to someone who can give us three great seasons here and I think Fitzgerald does a pretty good job at getting open. I think the attributes that you give Smith Sr. credit for are attributed in Fitzgerald, he does a great job of getting open, runs routes and knows how to sell them, not to mention that he's physical at the LOS and his hands are as sure as the sun coming up.

If he had the desire to play a few more seasons I think he would absolutely be one of our best signings since Smith Sr., he would rejuvenate this offense and add a move the chains type of target. Fitzgerald is good enough to literally beat any CB in the league to get open.

My point is, I'm not opposed to signing someone who can give us three great seasons, it wouldn't hurt us if we signed someone like Fitzgerald and to along that draft a WR early.

I agree with you, but the way the play calling is........

I would love for Larry to tutor Perriman. That would be ideal.

Fitz would be good if we have a young No.1 to mentor. Perriman is a bust. He made some nice catches on lower level college competition. And ran a fluke 40 time. There is no tutor for Perriman!! His routes are slow and awkward. Ravens need to take advantage of the wr free agent market or draft Calvin Ridley.

I feel like he's open because DCs just tell the secondary to ignore him lol. Joe doesn't look his way and if he does he drops the ball, what a luxury to be able to completely ignore a wr right???

We are more likely to go after a younger wr like Robinson or Lee than Fitzgerald. especially since he has played his entire career as a cardinal and signed an extension.
