WR/RB Thread

From late teens to where he'll be available is too expensive for Ozzie's taste, unfortunately.
Too expensive for anyone's taste... The Chiefs had to trade their 2018 first round pick to move up 17 spots and people thought the Bills got jipped in the trade. If Baltimore drafts around 22 or so Ridley will likely go around 10 if not earlier, which means it would likely need a 1st round pick to move up.... And no GM will use 2 1st round picks for a WR.

I mean let’s get real here - I know it’s the bengals but if John ross goes top 10 in a strong draft class there’s no way Ridley doesn’t go top 10 in a seemingly much weaker one

That is a very good point. Unless Ridley goes down with an injury or has a poor poor combine.... More than likely a top 10 pick if not top 5. Cooper went 4 and a lot of people compare him to Cooper. Let's hope he is a little more consistent than Cooper.

If he played with QB like Amari had, Ridley would have crushed all amari's records. Ridley basically spent last 2 seasons lining up for quarterback-in-training.

Of course the speculation on where Ridley goes will partly be resolved by draft order but I see his floor as top 10 in terms of where he should go no matter who’s picking where (at this point) but you guys are very right that he could well go top 5

Julio Jones anyone?

Julio Jones anyone?
That's because Julio was by far as safe of a pick that any could be. And think of how far back that pick would've sent the team if he didn't work out or if his injuries continued like they did the first couple seasons. In my opinion and most GM's would agree in most circumstances trading 5-6 picks for 1 player is not worth it. Especially when you have other WRs drafted later in the draft that also have been really successful.

It isn't a question of whether or not it's worth it or whether he was safe (the Falcons actually wanted AJ Green and tried hard to deal with the Bengals). You said no GM would do it and I was just showing they will if they think they can get a game breaker. So, I mean, not a totally unprecedented move.

I believe the Bills also traded two first round picks for Sammy Watkins and they moved up like four spots.

it was tired when it was just fans, it's even more tired now that media are lazy with it too
I do it purely as a joke. Though denying his obvious bias is foolish.

That said, Walter football is the worst at it. Has us taking back to back Alabama players just cuz “Bama”.

Honestly I've been thinking, how come we can't trade for a receiver? When we took Boldin from Arizona we knew that it would come at a price yet we still made the trade, and boy did that pay off big time.

The Patriots made a safe gamble with Cooks and it has paid off as well.

I haven't heard anyone mention it but I would more then love to see us make a move for Demaryius Thomas. The Broncos tried to trade him this off-season and couldn't find anyone who wanted to give up much for him. With them entering the rebuilding process I think he might get shopped around once the off-season arrives. With Thomas getting his 35M guaranteed up front, his contract becomes much easier to get out of. It will pretty much be a 1YR deal.

But they have to exercise his option by March 13th, if they fail to do so he enters FA and I would still love to see us make a move for him.

isnt davante adams gonna be a UFA?
the only reason i ask is because he's indisputably the packers number 1 wr (or at least that's how opposing defences see him) but the packers already have money tied up in both jordy nelson and randall cobb and they wont be able to keep all 3 - so either adams goes because they cant afford him or cobb/nelson get cut and enter the market as cap casualties

No way they keep both Cobb and Nelson over Adams at those salaries.
I'd say Cobb is as good as gone but Nelson is up in age and clearly the shadow of old Nelson. Didn't look too impressive while Rodgers was still playing.
