The Random Thought Thread

Manny was doing s****, that is how he moved up all those weight classes.

The prime conversation goes both ways. Floyd is older

Yeah. According to Floyd he thought Manny was dirty. When the drug testing was agreed upon was when he took the fight if I remember right.

All Manny had to do was agree to drug testing and Manny wouldn’t do it.
He did though, there was one very specific type of testing he didn’t agree to and he had his reasons as well, he agreed to take the same exact test Floyd demanded immediately after the fight but not immediately before, he didn’t want blood drawn immediately before the fight.

And the second time around, all Floyd had to do was sign on the terms he had already agreed to.

Beside the point, why did he avoid the fight at all costs?
I never got into that because none of us will ever know the truth.. ofcourse outlets gonna make it seem like he avoided it because no one likes him.. you should blame media though for boosting yall heads up into thinking he could actually beat floyd.. had to be a complete let down.. then he had nerve to say his shoulder was messed up and everyone actually ran with that lie… think about this, mans so great that after he retired, they flooded the media with a “ triple g vs floyd”… a guy that walks around at 175+ pounds vs a guy thats 140s lol that should let you know that floyd is on a whole different level than everyone else

No idea what’s going on but Floyd is the GOAT and don’t @ me

A little nit-picky here, but it's a bit of a pet-peeve of mine...
Why do we consider Olympic gold medals great achievements in sports where they're already regularly playing in international competition against the best in the World?

There's sports where the Olympics is the crowning achievement of the sport, likely because it's either a) not that popular of a sport or b) the sport is too isolated geographically that it's one of the only times where people can actually judge themselves against international competition.

A tennis player playing in the Olympics, which many tennis players routinely skip because of its lack of significance in the sport, is already playing against people they've beaten or lost to numerous times in regular competition.

The Olympics for most of your major sports is basically just an amateur competition that's used to make lower-tier athletes in that sport feel better about themselves.
I wish the olympics could go back to being for amateurs, but that will never happen.

What more does Brady need to do for you? The question is not , is he the greatest to play the game, he is. The only argument left is : Is Brady the most accomplished athlete of all time?

That’s difficult to compare and quantify achievements in the different sports. In no particular order it’s Muhammad Ali, MJ, Brady, Jack Nicklaus, Rodger Federer, Tiger , and probably Micheal Phelps.

There's a crazy rumour going round that countries other than the USA have athletes too lol

Don Bradman is the goat
Got to mention guys like Tendulkar too. Then in other sports, have to have Messi and Ronaldo on the GOAT list (if you read the Ballon D'Or winners since 2006, you'll immediately understand). In rugby, guys like Jonah Lomu made opponents look like small children for a decade. I didn't realise he died in 2015 though! Only 40. RIP.

Bradmans average was 99.94 the closest after him was 61. Even as an Aussie I loved Lomu, sad end to a great man.

Sure ,probably should have included a soccer player , but let’s not pretend like the rest of the world compares to the US when it comes to athletics.

Just so I'm clear, your position is that the USA has produced such a large proportion of the best athletes in history that the rest of the world is barely worth mentioning..?

Well I mean it's really never been "amateurs" for most sports. Like Swimming is always going to be "professional" swimmers in the Olympics because that's like the peak of their sport.

The Olympics would be better off not having "major sports" in it. No baseball, football, hockey, soccer, basketball, etc. It will pretty much never be an indication of anything. Any large sport that's played globally will either have international competitions to decide who's the best (i.e. the World Cup) or all the best players flock to one area to play anyway (NBA, MLB, etc.).

It's really not amateurism vs professional, it's more along the lines of the Olympics should be about non-popular sports that already have global competitions.
