The Random Thought Thread

The Browns locked up both of their starting guards and have most of their OL locked in through 2025. Really would help if we can get a consistent OL like that.

So.... does this mean we just need to replace Wink with someone who dials up more pressure? I just don't understand how Judon, and ZDS have left and become better players. Usually for us, it's the opposite and they show they are a product of our scheme.

coming back to this whole discussion...
perhaps some much needed context to the questions about judon this year:

Worth also contextualising Odafe Oweh with regards to the rest of the draft...

after blazing starts - almost all of the rookie edges have been quiet for a little while:
https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-rookie...justin-fields-rising?campaign=Twitter_nfl_cfb

this is obviously just DJ's opinions but only 2 EDGEs appear here and it's Oweh in the top 10 and then Ojulari just sneaks in at the end...

it's obviously early but i dont think there's going to be any buyer's remorse even after the hot starts of joe tryon, greg rousseau etc.

By the way Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps. Y’all better be having a drink to celebrate tonight. Whiskey is a flowing

@rossihunter2

do you think Wink isn’t using Mad and Oweh to their full potential?

not watched the video but I did watch a lot of madubuike last night - and he was a complete bully and I liked the way they used him, jelly and Campbell - thought the DL rotation worked really well against the Vikings

oweh I’m a little concerned about how much I’m seeing them use him inside but some of what they seem to be doing with him is using him slanting hard inside to create a free rusher on the blitz outside

but no issues at all with madubuike’s usage in the Vikings game

To me it’s incredibly stupid to use the best athlete on the defense to create open rushes from lesser athletes who can’t get home.

I’m really starting to have a problem with winks defense and the oweh at 3tech thing and the lack of madubuike in 3tech and 1tech on passing downs is where the problem really begins for me

I mean I’d love madubuike on passing downs at 3 or 1 but I get why they don’t (because they put Campbell in there instead and we often only have 1 DL in passing downs like that - and when we have more it’s often madubuike as the 2nd guy)

I agree though about oweh - let him get some rhythm rushing outside and not constantly moving him around the formation - let him be a dynamic threat on the outside - especially with how he started the year and the way we’ve struggled to get pressure at times

i find both incredibly difficult to watch lol - but at least i understand how cricket works lol
I love the game but don't always watch the games. I can' totally get into a pitchers dual as well, so it's not all about the hitting for me. Love the nuances of the game, but yes, it doesn't come close to football.

But when oweh is that 2nd DL… make it madubuike instead and put oweh outside.

a front four of oweh, madubuike, Campbell, and Houston can get pressure if you just let them rush, the reason we can never get pressure with four is because we flat out don’t let them.

wink has moments of absolute brilliance, but his scheme has put out multiple consecutive years worth of film, and he’s simply not playing the chess match he should. The blitzes are sent very often and picked up very often, it shouldn’t be that way. Most coordinators blitzing get home because they don’t know how to pick it up, we do it so often and it fails to get home because it’s so familiar they’ve got it figured out most of the time.
