The Random Thought Thread

I was pretty high on Lamar compared to the other Qb's in this draft and I was pretty hyped that we might draft a QB high after I did my research. But we can still draft a qb in the next two draft. As of now I have Fromm above Tua.
Tua all day, he reminds me of Carson wentz, he’s got pinpoint accuracy and touch and he controls his velocity to drop it in the bucket in good timing and he does this shit from the pocket and on the run.

not sure why you'd have it that way round
Tua is clearly the player with the better NFL traits at the moment, the better form and seems to just be a much better player

the way he throws the ball is legitimately beautiful especially with that leftie spin on the ball too

I know, I never said lamar was the whole reason, Flacco’s health and new supporting cast are largely the reason, but to say lamar didn’t push joe is crazy, he even sounds different in press conferences now, Flacco is an extreme competitor and has a shitload of pride and he wanted to prove something when we drafted him. It can’t really be denied
Yeah, but it’s not even a big reason he’s playing well. As I mentioned early on when this came up, competition is always good and surely helps to motivate, but Joe already had plenty of motivation. Like you said Joe is extremely competitive and prideful, he was already primed to excel, whether they drafted a QB or not.

I am sure it drove him but again we were all talking about how great he looked at the workouts 5 weeks after Lamar was drafted. What can you possibly do in 5 weeks physically to look great? It just is not a thing. I just am not seeing anything different about Flacco in terms of throwing the ball, in terms of decision making (I still say the worst throw he made this season was that deep completion to Brown), its the exact same guy its just he actually can move around a little and has people who can catch the ball and not just bounce off both their hands into the defenders (seriously how does that happen 3 times in a season)

Qb is just as much mental as it is physical, and I think the mental difference is noticeable as well, he looks sharper mentally than he has since 2012.

They’re not going to understand, they don’t want to. It has nothing to do with anything physical. Mental motivation and there’s no denying it.

Except he still makes ALL the same mental mistakes that make Joe Flacco drive you crazy. When down he still thinks he can force balls that even Drew Brees would not try, he still gets rattled by the blitz and rushes throws., basically he still makes the exact same boneheaded moves, the only difference is that he now has playmakers good enough to catch those throws and is healthy enough to buy time so the blitz is less powerful

He makes those throws occasionally, but overall he’s still sharper on a consistency basis.

you hit this on the head, but many dont see it like this.

And if one were to watch every play of every game of any team you would see ALL QBs sometimes make bad decisions and bad throws.

not consistently like flacco.. make it even worse, its not like flacco ints comes from him trying to fit them into tight areas.. he ints literally comes from dumb throws, bad timing and i guess not expecting the cb to even attempt an int. crazy part is that im rooting for flacco but he is what he is and thats not gonna change

We disagree on when those happen though. I say they happen either because the pass rush forces a bad throw or when he is behind and tries to do too much because sometimes it works out. To me the worst decision he made in that Bengals game was the long pass to Brown which he came down with. That was an amazing throw but into triple coverage where it should have never been completed, but Brown was good enough to come down with it so it ended up looking like a good decision.

So the Browns have put up 35 pts on the road vs the Raiders so far huh? First the Bengals and now the Browns are ballin? Goodness! Smh!

I think our first matchup with the browns will be relatively straightforward, but going forward I think they're going to keep getting better and better. The Steelers look in shambles and the Bengals look exactly like the Bengals. They'll choke come playoff time
