Exactly.
Even the biggest Harbs' supporter out there would have to admit - after the 4 year long mediocre run, 2019 would be a lame duck season. That's always wasted year.
It is certainly a major drawback to keeping Harbaugh because if there’s a coach you love there’s a high probability they will get a job elsewhere. We definitely need to make a good decision here because bad coaching can certainly destroy a team. That’s why I’m not in a rush to get rid of Harbaugh but like with Pees I’d love to upgrade if possible.
I think the mediocrity of this team 100% falls
More on flacco than it does harbaugh.. idk if yall have been watching the same qb as me for the last 10+ yrs but this guy is not a good qb.. no coach, nor surrounding cast can improve his game. First it was pees wasnt using bowser and tim right, now its harbaugh wont play them.. our team just look like shit now. Nobody really stands out. Looks
Like the hump train done died down and now its on to Orlando brown; whose been playing well..... we simply have mediocre players all across the board. What we need to do is draft better and stop giving out these bad ass contracts..
We’ve all been watching the same guy. He just isn’t playing well and nearly everyone agrees there. I still think Flacco can win but I think it’s entirely his decision whether he plays well enough to win. He’s got to clean up his game and I don’t have any faith in him to do it consistently. He is who he is and he’s an average QB who plays well sometimes and also plays terribad.
To be honest, I think Joe is going to have a good December and rebound, it wouldn't suprise me but it's not going to be enough because I've seen this story too many times and I'm over it. We need a QB who not only can play good Football on a game to game basis but for the entirety of the year. That's my issue with him honestly and he might look ready to move on himself from the looks of it. I appreciate all that he's done for us but he's not the player I hoped he would turn out to be and that's kind of saying something.
He probably will but then what’ll we be? We ply Falcons, Chiefs, Buccaneers, Chargers, and Browns. We’ll have to beat Browns and Buccaneers (which may be tough in itself due to OJ Howard...my lord I hope he doesn’t play in our game...) and we must take two of those other games. That means we have to somehow beat two of Chiefs, Chargers, or Falcons away. I tell you this: you’ll see if this team has what it takes to win and whether we should keep Harbaugh in December. Joe though as far as he’s concerned has already sealed his fate here.
We are not just a qb away from being a great team it's crazy to think that. I have given up on defense as an entire side of the ball as playing elite defense doesn't exist against good offenses anymore. To get carried by defense, your defense has to play FLAWLESS.
The jags had one of the best D's I've seen in years in 17, same with the Vikings.
They allowed 42 against the Steelers and 36 against the Eagles respectively.
Look at the score of the Super Bowl and look at every team dominating the league. We need more play makers and a lot more because this crap doesn't work. Flacco has played decent but the system Marty has going of drives only and never taking shots means he has to play COMPLETELY PERFECT or else we punt. If one person messes up the drive is over, that goes for anyone.
Go watch a Saints game and how a dump off pass turns into a 50 yard gain. Watch Michael Thomas take one to the house.
Watch Todd Gurley sneak a screen play or a chiefs game where 3 guys can turn a slant into a td.
I will be so incredibly pissed if we don't sign John Brown back. Alex Collins is a fantastic play maker as rb but hasn't been able to see the los without being nailed all year and it sucks. The dude would break off big runs all the time.
It isn't that complicated that 3 yard run 5 yard pass 2 yard run every single drive isn't the key to success. One guy misses a block and it is ruined. I'd much rather see us go 3 and out and take a deep shot that Marty trying to show how good he thinks he is.
Nah we are a QB away to an extent. If Lamar pans out that changes the trajectory of our entire team. We have Stanley and Brown to build around and Yanda* who could retire but still. We need a C but I actually like Hurst as a G so I think we really only need to draft a C. I don’t mind what we have for LG right now unless an elite guy is there to take. Otherwise I’d rather get a RB who can complement Lamar because those two will make the passing game easier since teams must then sell out to stop the run and we can pass. Key is Lamar has to show he can pass and I believe he can as I’ve seen him improve. So we are a QB away in that it depends all on Lamar because if he’s ready it changes everything.
It really sucks ass we don't have a second round pick this year as we really need one. We need to control the LOS better on both sides
I'm tired of ignoring the offensive line but at the same time you will find a play maker in round 1 way more often than later..
Stanley and Brown are an incredible tackle duo so I wouldn't touch that.
Sakura has been okay. He started off rough but I think he is okay enough to be able to focus on other areas.
I don't like Alex Lewis but the coaches seem to love him. Hurst is a very okay guard we just need to get him back (I'd guess or hope post bye week)
Yanda is Yanda but I think that next year is his last. We just might be able to grab a guy or two in the 3rd or 4th but I think our line is at a far better level when we can get guys healthy and together than we saw last week.
I don’t like the idea of double dipping on OL early. There’s no OL I would take in the first round and I would do it in the 3rd. Hopefully we get a 3rd round pick for Jensen because we can trade up from our 3rd to get a 2nd. I’ve been beating this drum for a while but I would go C in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. I really like Gaillard and Biadasz a lot and I think they will go 3rd and 2nd rounds respectively. I like our tackles a lot but Skura actually started off OK but has gotten worse these past few games. I think he’s fine at LG but I’m less impressed at C but he’s decent I guess. I think injuries will do in Alex Lewis. I agree otherwise on OL so I would keep Hurst to play one of your G positions and try to address the other G with Yanda or the Draft either next year or the year after. I agree Yanda is near the end.
This is also the best free agent safety class I have ever seen. I know Weddles contract can be ripped apart but I don't think Jeffersons can if I'm not mistaken.
Haha, Landon Collins, Earl Thomas and Joyner are all free agents at the same year that is crazy. We can't afford anyone really and I know I just pointed out how offenses will win games but my point on this is we need to buy our defensive holes to focus on drafting playmakers. It is a much cheaper way to live than trying to pay guys on offense also. If we cut Weddle and Jimmy we could pick up Earl Thomas and his all star talent. Unlikely but maybe Steve will see we need to try and do something different because this low spending stuff clearly isn't working
This year also has an insane pass rush class, and we could really afford to over pay for one imo... we just need a threat to get pressure and we don't have the ability to do that in the draft with the limited amount of late picks we will have. This could be what we need to control the defensive los.
Frank Clark, Jaydevon Clowney, D. Lawrence, Dee Ford, and Ansah (old)
any of those guys can be a complete season changer for us. They will all be expensive as hell once again but we could attempt to backload the contracts and see what happens in the CBA. I just remember what Clowney did against us last year he can physically abuse people and I think a change of culture could really help him. He played like a pro bowler last year but I think we overpay him and have a chance at a top 10 defender in the entire NFL for the next half decade.
Again, in the past all of this would be extremely unlikely with how our team is run but Ozzie is no longer the GM and I think Steve really wants to see a splash or change something. I'm just speaking outloud about options not saying this is right.
Cut Jimmy, Give Mosley his short term deal he wants (good for both as we don't get stuck with him forever and he gets a chance to prove himself for the CBA) Sign Clowney with Jimmy's money. Draft the best playmaker in round one. Draft a rb and a linemen in rounds 3 and 4, maybe 2 third rounders with Jensens pick. <--that is what I would attempt to do.
We can shed ourselves of Jefferson and Weddle but the salary savings isn’t as great for Jefferson as it is Weddle. That’s all there is to it but I think if you feel Jefferson isn’t playing up to the level you need and you feel like you’ve seen everything you need then you cut him. I think you’ll definitely want to potentially keep Weddle if we don’t keep Mosley and I do not think it’s guaranteed we re-sign him. As for the options at safety, yeah it’s a good and solid FA class but I don’t know if any of those guys actually become FA except maybe Thomas but maybe Collins however I don’t think Haha will because Redskins traded for him so unless he stinks it up I think they’ll try to keep him. As for those pass rushers, Ford will be highly coveted and I don’t think we’ll have any chance at him. Same goes for Clowney but that dude has legit health concerns as far as I’m concerned. Ansah is eh. Lawrence may not leave Dallas but he’s OK and Clark is a gamble but I don’t know if he’ll leave SEA.
Last thing, cutting Crabtree Jimmy and Eric would save us around 21 million according to spotrac. Cutting Crab can be used to further pay Brown (say half his contract I think he gets close to 9 mil a year which I am fine paying him) and cutting the other two would be enough to likely get Clowney (maybe around 11/12 mill) or Earl Thomas.
Those moves would give us 50 mil in cap space with the need to resign Mosley (11mil) Brown (9 mil) Suggs for a year (maybe around the same as this year in 5 mil) and then throw in 10 mil for smaller guys and draft picks. So that'd be 15 mil to spend. If we keep Eric as we might have no other option, We would still have 10 million to pay a free agent.
I understand we always backload contracts so we would likely have even more cap space, but those moves would set us with star players (which we really need for a while.
A guy like Marquise Brown would be awesome too. He is going to fall due to his size but is a game wrecker. We could have the Brown brothers and that offense would be damn scary if we had Lamar back there too. Easily the fastest with Snead Hurst and Andrews working the chains. Damn.
He worked at my local amusement park and played at the junior college I take some extra classes at. He was a full time ride operator on this ride called full throttle and I legit never knew or would have guessed that dude was a football player. Random but I find it pretty cool. The college is also the same one Tim White went to, along with Domaka Peko, Jason Pier Paul, and Matt Moore so that success list is pretty solid.
I’m not sure I would cut Weddle but if we keep Mosley then you have to do that yeah. As for Jimmy he’s a tough one because he has been getting better but he has those injury issues.
