major market is the only correct statement you made in that first sentence. Fields is far from up and coming....atleast with the Bears. Maybe he will do better with another team.

Ravens may not have signed Lamar at the time the schedule was made, but it's not like this team isn't competitive year in and year out.

TBH, I don't care if we never are on a prime time game. Sure we have to be on prime time...atleast on Thursdays, but I'd prefer 1:00 games every week until the Super Bowl!

I'd prefer watching the fucking Commanders and they have sucked since @allblackraven Moses split the Sea ...especially in Prime Time games

Bears were a very common playoff pick and there were a LOT of people had him as a darkhorse MVP candidate. I did not buy into the 5 game stretch of Fields running the ball but most of the NFL did. The Bears did. A lot of the fans did.

Meanwhile the Ravens without Lamar do not really have any primetime appeal. Already seen the team be competitive the past 2 years after he went down, but not win. I suppose if he did leave they would signed a journeyman to be the starter but is Carson Wentz really going to create hype for a primetime game. That does not really draw eyeballs in the way that the Bears and Fields running around versus this years number 1 pick would. That is a good sales pitch (not great but good).

Note how all the Ravens primetime games are late in the year when the networks could flex them out in the event Lamar was no longer around which would make the game far less interesting to the networks.

I never said they should put us in prime time instead of the Bears. Not once did I insinuate that, but the Bears don't have prime time appeal and I never thought they had a chance of making the playoffs.

That being said, they still put us in 4 prime time games and we hadn't signed Lamar Jackson. Guess we do have prime time appeal.
 
I don't know if you all saw this, but Pat McAfee rips the NFL's new video defining "Roughing The Passer." The plays the NFL showed are so much textbook football plays, it's ridiculous.

As long as the Ravens have Lamar there is prime time appeal hence why the games were placed at a point where they could easily be flexed out for a more appealing game if the need arose, aka if the Ravens traded Lamar. Lamar is one of the most exciting players in the league.

Meanwhile plenty of people had them in the playoffs basically off of that 4-5 game stretch of Fields, which honestly I did not think was that impressive as he just ran a lot and didnt really DO anything to win the game. The fact that you (and I) did not does not mean it was not a common thread of logic going plus that Fields would be exciting to watch (probably true). Even the Bears GM legitimately thought they had a franchise guy off of that stretch because they picked more Fields over seeing what Stroud could be. I can also be fairly confident that had they gone with Stroud someone calls up offering a mid 1st to get Fields.
 
I’ve said it before but because the trash talk is heating up between the two it’s making me angry again. Ravens fans should know Lamar is 7-1 as a starter against the bengals, not 7-2. They just look at statmuse and it says 7-2 because it counts a game he played 2 plays as a WR. I’ve also seen people say he’s 7-2 against burrow, it’s crazy to me lol
 
Divisions are bullshit. We have to play Burrow twice and the Steelers and Browns defenses twice, while KC get the Raiders, Broncos, and Chargers x2 in the race for the #1 seed.

I'd prefer the variety of a soccer style league where we play the entire AFC + 2 random NFC teams every year. People talk rivalries, but the real ones would persist while the rest ebb and flow with results anyway. (Pittsburgh will always be a rival, the Bengals - Browns 'rivalries' have always depended on how good they are.)
 
A very random thought but with all the new offensive Hcs being hired, you can really see the consequences. Look at the dolphins: Amazing offense, terrible defense.

As I think you know this is nothing new and not nearly as bad as the disparity NE enjoyed for many years.

By “soccer style” I’m guessing your referring to something like the Premier league. That format is possible in England because the country is so small, and the number of games they can play. Geographically/travel wise that would never work for NFL football in the US, and there could be no home and away with each team cuz they’re not playing 31 games.

Anyway, just don't put words in my mouth, because I never said they should put us in prime time, instead of the Bears game.

Just so you know, the schedule was released after we signed Lamar.

A majority would be an accurate statement as well.

Meanwhile, as I said prior, the schedule was released 1 week after signing Lamar. That means the schedule was almost certainly finished several weeks if not at least a month beforehand. So when making the schedule they did not know about Lamar’s contract status and only had his trade request to go off of.
