The Random Thought Thread

I was curious as to how this was Pat Ricard's first All-Pro selection, and it turns out that FB was added just last year. What a wild reversal of NFL history. FB only gets respect in the vote when there are only like 5 dudes in the league to pick from instead of 20 years ago when every team was running a FB out there lol

he didn't have better stats unless you call 18 interceptions a good stat.

He also was 5th in the mvp vote last year
I mean I would call more yards, TDs, and QBR higher stats. Yes last year Allen had 20 turnovers to Lamars 13 but thats about the only category that he was better in (and wins). If we were going to count turnovers this year Lamar has 9 to Allen's 8. Yes I am counting lost fumbles because if we are going to count the positives of running the ball, then its only fair to count the turnovers that can happen then as well.

Right but when you put the stats into the context of the games he was never close to MVP. I swear people don't have any recollection of what happened last season.

It was a down year for offense in general. I can't find it now, but as of the end of week 17 2024 already had over 100 more touchdowns than 2023. I have to imagine it surpassed 130 by the end of week 18. You had nobody putting up any records to put them in the MVP conversation. The person with the highest yards and touchdowns was Allen, but nobody had him in the conversation because most of his stats were early in the season and his turnovers were costing the Bills many games. The Bills went to more of a run-first approach and the Bills started winning games down the stretch against injury-prone teams. They were playing for their playoff lives week 18.
They were playing for their playoff lives but did end up as the 2 seed, which relatedly is just weird how close everything was.

I see Juice won it last year.

Their argument isnt bad to be fair. Its basically that Josh Allen had better stats than Lamar last year but Lamar had more wins and the bigger games at the biggest moments both of which apply to Josh Allen this year. The counter to that is that, unlike last year, Lamar does not just have better stats but historically great stats. If Allen was having historically great numbers he might have had a better shot.

also the counter being that while allen has two of the biggest wins this season, those are his only big wins this season

while ravens have a much better record against both winning teams and playoff teams

average Greg Roman playoff offense

Had BTJ, Nabers, and McConkey as my top 3 WRs this year. Its the only position I feel like I have any eye for at all. I can't pick an edge rusher to save my life

Its not the wins that I find funny, as I consider wins a team stat, but that he has basically been invisible through 4 playoff games. 8 total tackles and 1 sack. That is just a pathetic statline for a DPOY.
Oweh has been better in the playoffs than tj watt

Jayden Daniels seems poised to take over the NFC throne in the next few years as long as they continue to build around him. So much poise. He feels completely in command (no pun intended) of that team.

Eagles feel like a team that should be a lot better than they are. Those trenches are so fucking good, and they have plenty of playmakers on each side of the ball outside of that, but it just feels like they’re not on the same page. They could be really scary if they put it all together.

Other random thought of the day is that Tom Brady has gotten so much better at his job and I might kind of like him in the booth now. Feels like he’s stopped forcing things to feel likable, and is just out there spouting ball knowledge and getting the same result.

I mean the NFC QB throne might as well be made out of paper mache. The top QB in the NFC would not be a top 5 QB in the AFC which just goes to show the gap that exists right now.
