The Random Thought Thread

Cam Robinson is in the bottom 4 tackles in the league per PFF.
He's got slow feet and lousy technique. KO has had a down year by his standards. Austin Howard has been a lot better than cam.
Cam to me always looked like better match for the interior in the NFL.

The vocabulary of the statements leads me to believe that the person isn't any kind of insider or anything like that. They write like a fan ("add defensive studs") instead of someone who would be getting access to this kind of information. Plus they're making as broad and non-commital of a statement as possible regarding the suspensions.

Additionally if the DeCosta thing is true, it's not the kind of thing we would know now. If DeCosta leaves it'll be because he was really wooed by another team. It's patent nonsense to think that an executive who hasn't even taken interviews up this point is already leaning towards taking another job.

This I would actually disagree with. He's probably been around the Giants owners (the Mara's) and may really be interested in the city of New York. New York may be really appealing with a very elite defense and a few potential quarterback options on the team already.

Not saying the rumors are true at all, but you don't need to wait to be interviewed to think, "Wow, that would be a good gig."

especially in the middle of year
especially when the interim gm is a guy that will, according to rapsheet, be a serious interview candidate come this offseason (as opposed to an actual surefire placeholder)

not sure id call that defence elite anymore and im not sure id really consider their qb room "options"
new york itself is more interesting than the team tbh

but there's no way this is something he's even bothered thinking about in the middle of the season when we are very much still in the game - it may also be a case that he doesnt even get the chance to interview or think about it because the giants hire their guy quickly and we are still playing football coz were in the playoffs

I think the defense is a bigger indictment of McAdoo than anything. The suspensions and injuries to key players have really hurt that defense, but the pieces are still there. That defensive line has potential off the charts and DRC, Jenkins, Apple, Thompson, and Collins still make up an absurdly talented secondary. I think the linebackers need an overhaul, but who knows more about linebackers than someone from Baltimore?

At quarterback, you'll return Manning, have Webb, and have a top 5 pick in a draft with Allen, Rosen, and Darnold. He could very easily walk away with one of them. There's pieces to work with in the passing game with OBJ and Sheppard(sp?) and Marshall if he wants to return. Sure, the offensive line definitely needs some tweaking, but if they can find a legit LT and slide Flowers over to RT, I think the line could start to look a lot better.

I don't know; I think the situation could be appealing for a soon to be GM.

You are correct- I don't think DeCosta is too caught up in it at the moment.

well let's hope this never becomes an issue either because decosta doesnt want the job or because the ravens have gone so deep in the playoffs that the giants cant afford to wait around to hire their next gm
