Mekari left practice early with an injury
I don't consider the FO handling of Ray Rice to be that big of a deal to be honest. Information changes, new facts come to life, you make decisions based on what you know at the time. The only real thing I'd fault them with is not understanding the temperature in the room at the time, and not giving it the serious attention it warranted. Granted, much of that was just driven off of whatever the media's flavor of the month was, and whatever they were going to use to promote fake outrage for another period.one of the truly great things about ozzie and co - the honesty with their players and coaches etc. has always been a boon and it breeds trust - and it also allows players to really feel like equal partners in the success (long-term and short-term) of this franchise because they're treated with the respect that professionals deserve
the only real blight on ozzie's gm career if there ever was one is the way he and the ravens initially handled the ray rice situation

I would say most fans think the handling of Boldin was probably the biggest blunder. Probably amplified by how little amount of money we saved by ditching him, and by how that money was also used to buy some players who ultimately sucked royally here. Plus, if I recall, the Ravens basically traded him away while he was in Africa, and I think he found out about it through the media vs directly from the team.
Yet, Anquan still retired a Raven, so all the reports on how the trade and negotiations went I'll take with a grain of salt.I don't consider the FO handling of Ray Rice to be that big of a deal to be honest. I basically view it as he never lied to them, they knew what happened, but they never saw the video. With me ultimately the ray rice situation was the thing that tested me as a fan more than anything else
The thing I still cant really resolve is the fact that Ozzie always said even after they cut him that ray never lied to them and if that’s the case then he should have been cut before the video came out because if he hadn’t lied then he must have told them what happened in that elevator and they must have thought it was no big deal
Alternatively ray did lie and they lied about that to try and defend him which again doesn’t feel right to me either
It’s an issue that I’m glad they have taken seriously since and the response has been good but it was not a good moment for Ozzie and Steve in particular
I mean ultimately I just think fans were more outraged about that situation than Anquan was. Its a business and he understood that.Yet, Anquan still retired a Raven, so all the reports on how the trade and negotiations went I'll take with a grain of salt.
I would be as well and always liked him as a player and seems cool as a person also. He definitely liked his time here and wanted to stay around also. The team just didn't offer him as much as he wanted.Im cool with Eric Weddle retiring with us

something tells me he would want to be out west with his family, but that's just a hunch. Not sure what Weddle's plans are after he retires, but if he wants to get into coaching then hopefully we can find a spot for him. He's definitely got the brains to make a great coach if he ever wants to do it.

The reality is... the video changes everything. Even if you explicitly told me what happened, showing me what happens goes to an entirely different level for the general public. The general public largely had no idea what domestic violence looked like. They read about it in the news, and they hear stories, but they rarely see it play out in front of their own faces.
And when they see it, it amplifies the outrage.
In my opinion, and maybe its naive, if the video never surfaces, they never cut him. That was the game changer. And it wasn't because the Ravens didn't know what happened.
