ESPN First Take: "Are the Ravens the biggest threat to the Patriots?"

Max: When Patrick Mahomes comes back, it's the Chiefs.
Marcus Spears: 100% agree, don't even have to talk.
Stephen A: Same here.

Also Stephen A: Says Russell Wilson will win MVP.

No respect at all. Ravens go to Seattle, handily beat the Seahawks on their turf. Destroy the myth of the Pats defense two weeks later. Yet still no respect.

Those are completely rational takes, they still acknowledge Lamar is a threat.

I think LJ ran a 4.34 unofficial 40, but I'm not sure when it occured or if this is even true, but recently heard it.

That looks about right, he has great straight line speed but its his agility and movement skills that make him special, he reminds me of Devin Hester when he runs.

Russell Wilson should be the league MVP. His numbers are unreal. That team is supposed to be rebuilding and he is carrying them to the playoffs with near perfect QB play. Its not an insult to lose to Wilson; the worst game he had was against the Ravens and he wasn't exactly awful.

Also I would probably say the Chiefs as well. Mahomes is a monstee. Their offense is loaded and I can't wait to watch them drop 40 on the Pats.

League MVP hasn't won a Super Bowl since 1999 and the eventual MVP has been on a losing streak since so I'll be alright with Lamar not getting it lol. Mahomes would be up there but I think Matt Moore's play is going to be something the voters look at. Chiefs haven't missed a beat with Moore and are 1-1 at the moment, that will hurt Mahomes. If I had a vote, I'd probably lean more toward McCaffery for MVP over Wilson. Yes, the MVP is the QB award now a days and hasn't been won by a RB since Tomlinson but he's carrying the Panthers right now without Cam.

1) Christian McCaffery
2) Russell Wilson
3) Deshaun Watson
4) Lamar Jackson
5) Patrick Mahomes

Russell is MVP. He's made that dumpster fire competitive the past 2 seasons when they should have slowed down. Love what Lamar is doing, but what Russ is doing now is amazing.

Here’s a really random thought

Watching nick Boyle, I’ve been noticing something he does that’s really impressive, he has edge rusher levels of bend and balance, when he catches the ball near any kind of boundary and he knows he’s gotta get downhill, he has this innate sense to bend and get low and get his shoulder down, but he’s still running, and he often does it as if he’s pushing up against something, like an edge rusher would do trying to bend the edge, and you can see a lot of momentum as a result, when he gets in that “GET TF DOWNHILL” mode he does not look like someone I’d wanna tackle.

For example, the TD catch vs NE, and that big catch and run late vs Seattle where he lunged and slid another 10 yards on the wet turf.
Our next two-way player? lol

I’ve always appreciated Boyle and was ecstatic when we kept him. He’s one of those unsung hero, hard nosed guys every team needs a few of on their squad.

Yeah I've always loved him but the PED thing pissed me off, hate cheats.

As far as Im concerned he still owes the team bigtime, Ive never heard of another player getting suspended for steroids in both his rookie and his sophomore season.

It wasn't steroids, probably adderall. Still dumb but something a lot of players have used in the past, just not getting caught.

After Boyle was suspended last year, Head Coach John Harbaugh did not give specifics on what caused the failed test. There is no indication on the cause of the most recent incident.

“I can tell you this: it wasn’t like steroids or anything like that,” Harbaugh said in December. “When I first heard about it, that was my first thought, ‘Man, I hope it’s not something like that.’ It’s nothing like that.

“It’s pretty common. It’s what you read about all the time with guys. I don’t think he realized that it was something he shouldn’t be doing. Or if he did, he didn’t think it through.”

4.28 honestly sounds slow for Hollywood. I think when he’s full speed he’s a legit 4.24, Ross ran a 4.22 and you never saw him pull away from defenders the way Hollywood did

i think we still havent seen hollywood full speed but the fact that he was running over 20mph on some of his warm up runs when he was getting back to fitness - you think the 3rd highest speed tyreek hill has hit was about 22mph then we're looking at some special type speed here but we might not see it til next year when he has a full healthy offseason

From Sarah Ellison on twitter (was something ive been trying to quantify and put across lately)

Ravens offense:
Scoring: No. 1 (31.4 pts/gm)
Overall: No. 2 (427 yds/gm)
Rush: No. 1 (204.9)
Pass: No. 20 (222.1)
4th-down: No. 3 (75%)

Now, want even better news? 18 of the 25 offensive players on the roster are on ROOKIE contracts. Only 2 players will be UFAs this offseason.

Not only this but the 2 UFAs are Seth Roberts and Chris Moore
and while I think we're still probably one wide receiver short of getting this offence to close to full form we'll see whether that receiver can be Boykin or whether we need to add another option next year in the offseason but this clears the way to go ham on adding to the defence and maybe just adding a couple of pieces to this offence - an interior OL, another WR to supplement and refresh the offensive unit as needed and if we can get ronnie re-signed early then this offence is in a really good place moving forwards

obviously the defence is going to need a lot of thought in terms of contracts, draft picks, free agents etc. i think we've got 16 defensive free agents this year to work out what we're doing

If we win next week, Lamar will be 13-3 through his first season as a starter. I know it stretches over two seasons and so it's not the most accurate Stat, but it's pretty freaking good. I think there's a pretty good chance we can go like 12 and 4 this year!

It might sound like a cop-out, but I would probably give McCaffery and Wilson co-MVP if the season ended today. They're both carrying their teams right now and putting up ridiculous numbers. In the end though, I think Wilson will probably end up getting it especially since the Seahawks gave him another weapon in Josh Gordon. It also wouldn't surprise me to see McCaffery slow down a bit as the season wears on since he's been used so heavily.

exactly. My friends who are skins fans say he reminds them of RG3, but RG3 didn't have great agility, just great speed and of course he didn't know how to avoid a hit or read a defense. His vision is nowhere near as good as LJ's.
