The Random Thought Thread

Funny how during the off-season we were talking about building a track team around Lamar, and we did. But EDC also somehow made a rugby team at the same time.

Weddle is considered one of the smartest players in the NFL. He pairs those smarts with a devotion to watching game film. Late Monday night, after absorbing one of the most lopsided losses of his career, Weddle made a startling admission.

“I kid you not,” Weddle said. “Half of the time, I didn’t know who had the ball.”

I think we may have dodged a bullet. Skura has a sprain, but I don't know what grade yet.

That being said, Mekari had good grades on PFF

72.7 overall
69.7 Pass blocking
71.5 run blocking

I rewatched the game and this doesn't get talked about much or I missed it in the game thread, but Jaylon Ferguson had a really good game. Hell he was even good in coverage.

Ferguson is proving me DEAD wrong and I’m happy for that. He’s been really good on this stretch

With the right offseason, which includes some weight loss training, and refining some spots like edge discipline and backfield vision, he could become a very, VERY good 3 down edge guy, I’ve been really encouraged

Another guy who seems to keep elevating each week. Playing faster than I thought he would.

if he continues to progress in his ability to start stringing different pass rush moves together and gets his hands better technically he's going to start physically dominating some of these tackles off the edge - he's clearly physically more powerful and his bullrush has translated excellently but what's been great to see the last 3-4 weeks is that he's starting to disengage better and use a secondary move to try and get the finish

i think those are the 2 pass rush things id like to see him work on - compound pass rush moves and cleaner hand technique

So watching talk shows and Eric Mangini and Stephen A Smith are still some of the dumbest people in the world. No surprise there

mangini talking about lamar is like watching a man pull his own teeth out - he's got some serious issues with lamar and i dont want to project too much but unless lamar spat in his food at some point in his life i can think of only one other reason why he'd still obviously dislike him so much

I just had to laugh. Was curious how PFF graded Bozeman did last night. He was average overall, but had a 0.0 in pass blocking. His run blocking was very good at 76.8. One of his better games as a run blocker.

Let there be light!
