How many times do I have to explain this? It doesn’t fucking matter when Judon who’s vastly overrated by the fan base even if he’s not a bad player, and ZDS who’s a liability. It doesn’t. Those young guys are not going to learn jack shit sitting on the bench and in practice. They need live reps. And the drop off wouldn’t be substantial. Watch the damn film. We sent Judon into coverage pretty often, and while he was solid, those are opportunity that could’ve easily gone to Bowser, who would’ve been an arguable upgrade in that regard. ZDS I don’t need to go over again. He’s a total fucking liability as a pass rusher. How much worse is Tim Williams really going to be? With his skill set displayed on his college film likewise he would’ve been an arguable upgrade. It’d be something if both rookies were total liabilities themselves... but they weren’t. They both flashed whenever actually given opportunists last season. Hell, Wormley a prospect I wasn’t too keen on flashed but we relegated their asses to bench duty. We did the same shit with Paul Kruger. We did the same damn thing with Arthur Jones. They were talented players and all.... but their development would’ve gone a hell of a lot quicker if they saw the field sooner(or in Kruger’s case we didn’t decide to move him to the dline earlier on). Like at all. There was no reason to basically redshirt them. Literally none whatsoever. These guys aren’t Willie Henry who actually needed a year on the bench. Bowser could’ve been an immediate contributor as a coverage backer and Williams as a situational rusher. With the ever growing popularity of rotating front seven players on a consistent basis, there was no reason to not at least rotate them in a hell of a lot more. Probably would’ve kept our defense a lot fresher given the amount of time our shit offense keeps them on the field.

I agree with a lot said here.. I’ve always had an issue with how they go about playing some of the younger talent.
Kruger & McPhee were moved around to different positions for several offseasons stunting their development and they both had career years on final year of their deals.
*A.Brown never saw the field so we could even see him fail, he basically was a bench bust.

Ex. Having Kendrick Lewis play safety when Terrence Brooks could have gotten valuable reps. Instead Lewis played poorly, Brooks got a some reps at corner and got cut.

It irritated me that they couldn’t find ways to use T.Williams as a situational pass rusher at all last year, his run support is abysmal but I’m sure if given the chance he could have gotten a few sacks if they just let him go.

Bowser displayed his coverage ability early on, yet the team never utilized his skill instead just pounded their heads on a rock while LBs like Peanut got abused by TEs.

i agree with you on many points above but a player does have to earn his way onto the active roster and A Brown never did that at all - there's no point throwing players onto the field who have shown nothing and aren't picking up the playbook etc.

Matt Judon is getting the Crockett Gilmore and John Urschel treatment. Good player but vastly overrated by the fan base. I do not want him as the full time starter. At all. We rely on him a little too much. He’s a jack of all trades guy but that’s what he is. Judon is outperforming his other competition from the class sans bosa and Ngakuoue but those two are far superior talents. As they should be but let’s not kid ourselves. He’s part of the problem for our defense and why Timmy and Tyus can’t get developmental playing time.

Here’s to hoping Wink doesn’t suck

I don't think anyone is saying Matt Judon is elite or anything but The Ravens have been looking for a every down outside linebacker similar to Terrell Suggs for years now. Matt Judon has been the only one so far that seem to been able to develop close to that type of player. Maybe Tim Williams and Tyus Bowsers have more upside as pass rushers but Matt Judon definitely took a good step in the right direction in his second year in The NFl.

i like to imagine we are able to land collin johnson next year, and that jaleel scott pans out big time, and lamar jackson has a skill position group of:
collin johnson, jaleel scott, mark andrews, hayden hurst.

not a player under 6'4" and all with stellar hands.

Here's a question, have you guys ever seen our defensive players throw a former DC under the bus the way they are with Pees? I don't think I've ever heard a player saying they were shackled by a DC before. At least not from the Ravens.

I don't think so as I'm a "late to the party" fan so I don't know if they ever did with Mattison or any previous DC.

we subtly threw cam under the bus when he was let go, not nearly as much as this though, this is a pretty blatant "pees scheme was broken" chastising right now
