The Random Thought Thread

Haven't won more than 4 in row under Harbaugh during the regular season. I checked Steelers too. Very good chance they lose at least 3 with a good shot they lose 4-5. I also see about 5 questionable games for us. Bengals have the easiest out which I why I said it's probably them unless we get some consistency on offense or defense really steps up.

We've got to find a way to get a running game going. It's actually pretty amazing the offense has been able to produce at all considering a putrid 3.4 yards per carry, one spot from the bottom(Cards, 3.2). It's holding them back big time. I understand they have been somewhat limited by the O line issues but the play calling has been for the most part way too predictable. Did they pass on first down once last week?

Yes, but I believe less than 5 times.

I now present you with the NFL's "They deserve(d) better" team of the 2010s.

QB: Phillip Rivers: I mean is there any doubt? Spanos took a guy with hall of fame numbers and made him irrelevant. Fuck you Spanos
RB: Steven Jackson: The poor guy puts up hall of fame numbers behind a bad offensive line and solidifies his place as one of the most underrated players in NFL history. Too bad his team was garbage. You put him on the Patriots we'd be discussing him among the best ever.
RB: Maurice Jones-Drew: Injuries ruined him, but yet another Jacksonville RB to not be remembered in any way, shape, or form. Thanks for ruining him Jaguars.
WR: Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is so good that he makes this list two decades in a row.
WR: Calvin Johnson. How to Detroit Lion. Find generational talent, he dominates, retires early because he realizes Lions are hopeless.
LT: Joe Thomas: All time great LT, played for the Browns.
LG: Steve Hutchinson: That's right, I went there.
C: Alex Mack: 28-3 will never die.
RG: Ben Grubbs: *leaves Ravens, Ravens win super bowl*
RT: Micheal Roos: Thanks a lot Titans

Defense
DL: JJ Watt. 3 DPOYs, no playoff success. He can only do so much
DT: Gerald McCoy. Garbage franchise for the majority of his career.
DL: Muhammed Wilkerson. No wonder he did not care his final few seasons.

OLB: Cameron Wake. Do I really need to explain this? He'd be a no doubt all time great NFL story if not for the fact that he played for the Dolphins.
ILB: Patrick Willis. Obvious
ILB: Daryl Smith. We wasted him too.
OLB: Julius Peppers. One of the most impressive careers ever... Never any true success. Two time member

CB: Patrick Peterson: One of the most impressive athletes the position has seen in awhile. Utter waste of talent.

FS: Eric Weddle. We screwed up here too.
SS: Eric Berry. Yes he beat cancer, but he's an all world dtalent with nothing to show from it.
One thing I disagree with you on is Steven Jackson, not because he wasn’t a great player, but his best years were prior to 2010. Great player though

But no one else really recognizes him for his greatness, and he was great. He was the Rams for years and basically had nothing else there. He could honestly make it for both decades. If he had put up those numbers for the Patriots or Saints, we'd be talking about him as a top 15 RB of all time.

he was old and was pretty much their entire offense for many years, but his best years were prior to 2010. The mileage was too high once 2010 began. Sure he had a few plus 1k yrs from 2010-2012 but then had a huge dropoff. Jackson was a fabulous running back that the Cowboys had a the opportunity to draft and blew it when they traded back.

Anyway, point is three years (2010-12) isn't a decade and Jackson shouldn't be included in this post for that reason, imo.

What are the cap implications of cutting Jimmy and trading for Pat Pete lol

Steve Smith in the slot would have a lot to say about this
and Geno Atkins should 100% be on this team

Joe Haden probably has an argument too

If we make a move at the trade deadline, I strongly believe it's going to be for the run game. Joe is having a good year, but everyone knows he's better when he has a run game and if we had one I firmly believe that he's bound to have the best year of his career, especially since he has the worst passing defenses ahead of him to end the year. If we can run the Football more effectively, then this offense should, and will take off.

By the way, does anyone watch #BaldysBreakdowns on Twitter? That's some good shit right there.

yeah for anyone who hasnt been watching he did an absolute boatload of breakdowns of the saints ravens game about 5 hours ago on twitter

and for good reason - as he himself tweeted multiple times - it was probably the highest quality and most competitive football game of the year
that's a little bit of solace after a hard loss

I just saw the Chiefs put their C Jordan Devey on IR. Not many may remember but he was here as an UDFA. Funny how that works out. He’s pretty decent too better than Skura, sucks that he got away

Anyone know why Henry was put on IR? I don't recall seeing him get hurt in the Saints game...
If I had to guess I’d say probably the hernia still.

Something tells me that was a bit rushed.

Anyways, that one fucking hurts, bad. Good ol’ ravens luck, just when we think we shake the injury bug we lose our top db vs the saints, our top interior pass rusher is out for the year. God dammit. It’s time for sieler to show his shit, he and urban as a DT tandem on nickel packages could be fun, that’s a whole lot of strength and length.

Is Carl Davis still with us? If so then where the fuck has he been?

Why did we rush him back when we have a plethora of D-linemen already? SMH
