The Random Thought Thread

From a post on RSR

Many of us know that PFF is far from Football Gospel. But it's not entirely inaccurate. Curious to see what they think, here are their grades for each Ravens starter and key reserve. Some reserves are not listed because they lack enough data to be ranked by position:

They're just as bad as the commentary of their founder - Chris Collinsworth!

I'm not saying I wanted Swearinger, but I did want to know if the ravens did. Unfortunately Arizona picks directly before us on waivers and they took him. I guess we'll never know.

Can I just say, thinking back to what Jimmy and Marlon did to Julio and Calvin was just so incredible. Made them completely useless. I wanna see Jimmy stay around

Hell, I don’t see a reason to not want DJ. He’s played better than any of our safeties this season...

It's not that I don't want him, it's just I don't want him right now at the end of this season necessarily. I'm not sure he could pick up our defense fast enough to be useful if we make the playoffs

I don't see any reason to get rid of him. I mean, there's always the possibility that he'll get hurt and/or suspended again, but we have enough corner depth now that's it's not a big deal anymore when/if that happens. I'd keep Jimmy as long as he's still playing well, which he obviously is, because you can never have too many corners with the way the league is now.

Cutting him just to save space is stupid. If we absolutely need space for a big signing than maybe, but having Jimmy Smith as your #2 corner is an insane advantage that you can’t just simply get rid of just because

Exactly. If you have multiple shut-down corners on your team then you should consider yourself lucky and use that to your advantage as long as possible.

Anyone else having issues with game pass? Random plays from separate quarters following another, both out of sequence and incomplete?

Random thought. The loss last week for the steelers is so disheartening that they totally implode and drop their game to Cincy. That would be nuts. Not predicting it, but would love to see it.

It would be great to actually get some help for once in the last week of the season. We should beat the Browns, but we've been fooled by this team too many times to feel comfortable in that assumption.

That being said, it's gonna take a total choke-job by the Steelers to lose to the Bengals in their current state. The Bengals always lose to them and they have like half their roster on IR.

If Elway were to call for Joe, should we shun him and refuse to trade him to Denver like he refused to play for Baltimore haha, no but seriously. I'm wondering if Joe would take a pay cut and be ok with being a backup in case something happened to Lamar kinda like the Eagles situation with Nick Foles.
Elway pays a premium—double the price compared to anyone else! First he didn’t want to play for Colts (I wasn’t alive for this but it’s the principle!) and then he took Kubiak from us!

Tony Jefferson really got his son a Cowboys outfit for Christmas smh lol

He said it was only that or a bengals jersey to get here before Christmas but mannnn I’m sure the ravens could have hooked him up with something Hahahah
Trade him to Dallas, the Trader!!!

I think we should keep both players, Jimmy and Carr. Maybe Jimmy could play safety for us, although not on his current contract.

I’d like to see if we can get Weddle on the coaching staff.
Don’t get rid of any of our CBs. They all deserve to be here and if anything I would convert one to S if we feel we’re that stacked. Don’t forget about Hill because he looked really good too. I’d love Weddle here as a coach and I think that’s a legit possibility maybe like Orr who knows.

Said it a million times and I’ll say it again.

You don’t cut secondary players just because, you need more than 4 quality corners in today’s nfl, without jimmy Carr and Humphrey our defense is a joke, with all 3 of them plus Tavon there is NOBODY to exploit. It’s literally why our defense is #1. If this secondary was in foxboro they would be star studded and elite, but since its Baltimore it’s just a group of good players.

If cutting jimmy allows for a Khalil Mack esque signing then it’s ok, otherwise keep the corners intact
You’re entirely right and we don’t have the pass rushers to mask any weakness at CB nor do we have the LB or safeties to do it.

Yeah - it would make no sense to cut a player to only save space - you cut them when they are not worth the cap savings you would receive by cutting him. Jimmy doesn't qualify. Carr doesn't qualify either. I had looked at Carr as a possible cap casualty for this off season when the season began, but not any more. He's been playing very well.

Our CB group is really the key to why we are a #1 defense right now. You don't have to think that far back to when our CBs were our Achilles heel and no one should want to revisit that. I say we keep em all.
