The Random Thought Thread

Ramsey isn’t Khalil Mack. Khalil Mack is far better at his position IMO than Ramsey, who has been beaten and lost match ups. This is from a huge fan of Ramsey, as most can attest during that draft and after that I wanted him bad and was fine giving up Stanley and that DL who didn’t pan out at all for us and I don’t care enough to remember him or look him up. That said, I’d do a hard pass in giving up 2 1st round picks for Ramsey but I would do it for Mack.

Mack is better at his position but Ramsey is top 3 at a more important position. Short of QB I don't think there is a more valuable position (maybe LT).

I totally disagree with that. Pass Rusher > CB by far for me, and I used to play secondary.

In the playoffs great OLines outplay the pass rush, but the secondary usually wins out over great receivers.

I can't remember the last SB champion that didn't have a great secondary but the majority in past 15 years had average or worse pass rush (Pats do taint those numbers a bit because they build OLine, secondary and QB+ 1 run stuffer every year)

Edit: I think Philadelphia had a weaker one but Bill threw that game by benching his goos player.

I think secondary is important; I just have pass rush higher because the rush will affect the QB into bad throws, sacks, fumbles, and TFL while secondary cleans up mistakes from the front 7 and stops then completions when you have good OL. Both are important but I think pass rush is vital. Not saying you’re wrong and I’m right because I don’t see it that way. It’s just my opinion that pass rush beats the secondary in importance for me.

Yo ke
I just wish we had Tavon and Jimmy this Sunday. Losing two of our best corners just freaking sucks! The Chiefs are going to take full advantage of this and put up points on the board. I really hope our offense is up to the challenge.

Yea it sucks. The name of the game here is going to be pass rush and limiting possessions. Chiefs run defense is awful. We need to get to the edges, convert third downs and go for it on 4th early and often.

I absolutely disagree that CB is more important than pass rusher. I'd say pass rusher is the most important position on defense. Mack is one of the best players in the league.

Even though we didn’t hear a peep about ET3 until he signed, I’m still getting pessimistic about Ramsey. I wish a beat writer or “someone within the organization” would just come out and say that there’s absolutely no chance of acquiring him so I don’t get my hopes up on Friday. Jeff Z is being unapproachable about it, though he hasn’t ruled it out.

Random. Before the new deals we have 68 mil in cap. Cutting Carr would open up another 6 mil with 1 mil dead money. Just sayin...

If pass rush is more important then CBs then why are the teams with great pass rush but average CBs never contenders but teams with great CBs and average pass rush (at best) winning SBs.

Its because pass rushers win games outright against awful Olines but the road to the SB requires facing 1 or 2 good ones and then they shut down the pass rush. There's also the QBs who just get the ball out too fast and put pressure on the CBs so they better be good especially because good CBs shut down WRs (which is also why I think WRs are drastically overpaid).

1st: can anybody confirm this:
Apparently on @1057FMTheFan this morning it was mentioned that Jerry Coleman overheard a conversation between Earl Thomas and his agent about trying to acquire Jalen Ramsey. The Ravens locker room, naturally, wants that move to happen.

Earl and Ramsey share their agent.

And 2nd:

I really think it might happen guys... Earl was asking his agent about Ramsey, DeCosta is apparently cool with their GM. Jalen wants to play in a man scheme. PLEASE! If it's not us for some reason I think it's Seattle.
