well we lost two legit starters. That's always going to cause issues.
I wouldn't say always. Either it was 2010 or 2011 which was the year when their secondary was so bad they had to ask Julian Edelman to play corner.
We just let our three best communicators go in one offseason. Weddle, Mosely and Suggs were a big part of last years defense and we can't expect to be just as good as last year, atleast not yet. Give the defense time and work through the kinks and we will get better as the season progresses. Just like last year.

I originally saw this guy posting “Dolphins fan here” stuff on NFL Memes and Crying Jordan’s pages, but now he’s all over the Ravens page and all their posts. I’ve checked other teams FB pages and he isn’t posting on anyone’s but ours. Why us??? Lol

we really miss CJ - not for the price he got paid but man this defence misses him at the MLB spot - all the plays he creates for the guys around him, the way he helps his corners on shallow crossers, the way he drops into zone, the way he gets everyone in the exact right spot and makes the calls
exactly right and not many people considered this part of his game
. I'm not saying I would have paid him, because that was way too much money, but he's definitely a lost that needs to be replaced and Peanut isn't anywhere near the player that Mosely is and a bunch of communication issues are due to this loss.

yeah losing CJ and losing Weddle at the same time has taken away a lot of flexibility from the defence - weddle isnt as good as Earl Thomas but he's much better at disguising the coverage and the scheme presnap in a way that ive never seen from any safety in the league

Don’t forget Earl Thomas had an AP LB in Bobby Wagner in the defense. I wanted that guy so bad I remember when he came out of Utah State that year and I couldn’t believe we passed on him after losing #95. I know we needed an OLB but man that guy was as legit a replacement for 52 as I've ever seen.
I'd agree that losing both Mosley & Weddle hurt this defense. I know I said it at the time but I recall others saying it as well. I never felt like we could lose both guys and maintain the team let alone losing three cornerstone pieces of defensive intel in Suggs, Weddle & Mosley. I hoped Jefferson could supplant the loss of Mosley's IQ and knowledge of the defense but he's just not good enough back there. We need to tweak the defense now before it gets too late and we can no longer do it.
It was a joke, I suppose a bad one. I'm implying he's insane & has issues because he is a Dolphins fan.

This is why i wasnt as excited when we got earl for these exact reasons
losing Weddle and CJ Mosely was going to be a tough loss. You have to look at ET has being mutually exclusive to losing Weddle and Mosely. We knew they were extremely important to how the defense functioned last year, even with Weddle's lack of interceptions, he was an extremely good leader and communicator in the secondary and could have the green dot when necessary as well. Earl is a completely different type of FS and with the right personnel we could be even better. It will definitely take time and possibly the different personnel. I'm looking at you Peanut.
