The Random Thought Thread

Washington Post's Mark Maske reports there is "positive momentum" that a new NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement will be agreed upon before this postseason is completed.

One of the big discussions of the new CBA is the schedule, and Maske reports it "is increasingly likely to include a 17-game regular season". Adding another game to the regular season has been viewed as a big deal by the players for safety reasons, so the NFLPA will be receiving other benefits in return if a 17-game schedule is agreed upon. Other issues with the CBA include the revenue split, player punishment, rookie contracts, and the franchise tag. There should be more reports on those issues over the next couple of months.

If you have a subscription to the Washington Post you can read the entire article, I don't get the Washington Post so I can't post the entire article.

Short of adding in a second bye week, which if they could structure would be the perfect solution to every player safety concern, I have no idea what they could possibly give the players to make them concede to adding another game.

massively higher salary cap, fully guaranteed contracts, relaxed rules on substance abuse stuff (especially weed), higher revenue split from tv money etc. - lots of things that the NFLPA will want - i imagine the 17th regular season game will come with a shorter preseason also which will partially help everyone - but maybe they add a 2nd bye week - the nfl has wanted to be a year round league - adding an extra 2 weeks of the season sounds like something the nfl would be into

I hated mike Evans in the draft but goddamn has he proven me wrong, and if I could choose any wr in the league for this team it’d be Evans. Hopkins to me is hands down the leagues best but I think Evans is the best fit and without too much drop off
I remember @flynismo pulled hard for Evans.

Someone compared the Pats D to our 2000 d. Don't agree but not the point. It was brought up that we gave up 36 to the Jags that year. We won and here is where my random thought kicked in. Couldn't figure if I was more surprised we allowed 36 or that that offense led by Banks was able to put up 39?

Any defensive scores by Ravens?

that guy must be out of his mind or didn't watch the Ravens games. He has no idea how good our defense was back then. Does he realize we went 5 straight games without scoring a TD and we actually played real football teams. The Jaguars were a very good team back then.

Because i live in tampa and was a fan of manziel, ive been able to watch evans dam near every sunday.. dude is a fucking monster. Drops some passes once in a while but man, imo he is better than evans. He also is very very fast at his size

Off topic I love Tampa, it has a lot of charm imo. Way better than Jacksonville.

Why are we now talking Mike Evans when everybody is saying how we can't keep all our CBs and sign Judon? Evans will cost an arm and a leg.

AJ Green all the way, if we pick FA receiver.
Green might cost a lot as well, minus the draft capital it would take to land Evans. I’ve always loved Green, but he would come with a huge risk because of his injury history. I suppose that would likely lessen a bit if he came to a run-heavy team though. Trust me.. he’s also on my list lol. I just really want a veteran on the outside opposite of Hollywood. A physical, reliable target, a la Boldin/Smith Sr. Green and Hollywood with Snead inside would be really nice but it might turn in to a bidding war for A.J. whose name alone will land big money and EDC probably won’t bother, but who knows
