I admit this reluctantly... but I like Colin cowherd. I didn’t at first, but I’ve grown to really like his outlandish methods of being an analyst. He recently put out a segment where he compared the ravens to golden state, and it’s pretty brilliant. His points were...

  • Colleges are all spread, o-lines are weak, QBs are coming up in 7-on-7 camps and dual threats are becoming premiere QBs all the way from youth days
  • Coaches have pushed back against the dual threat qb for too long, the ravens decided to go with it and be frontrunners
  • Golden state did the same, 3 pointers were seen as risky and unreliable, but golden state said screw it, we have a deadly 3 point shooter, let’s go get more of them and shoot so many damn 3 pointers that they can’t keep up
  • The nba is now playing catch up and trying to play the game golden state innovated
  • The ravens innovated and spearheaded what is going to become a new era in football but for now the league will be playing catch up as the ravens dominate the league
good analogy by him but i dnt think the lg gonna play catch up to us. Especially when we havent won anything yet except a few games in regular season

But I still think he has a bag pipe for a mouth. But, as long as he acknowledges Lamar's awesomeness I can live with him or anybody else. The minute anybody craps on Lamar I sour on them ASAP. If God crapped on Lamar Jackson I would become an atheist ASAP too.

Say sike right now.

Was Vick really the best mobile qb before Lamar?

I always knew Steve young was very mobile, but I just watched his rushing highlights, and man I didn’t quite realize just how gifted of a runner he was, his game looks a lot closer to Lamar than Vick tbh, as I’ve said a million times Vick was a broken field runner, he could take off and really fly, and he had some moves and whatever, but Steve young was escaping sacks by the narrowest of margins, spinning, juking, slipping through a phone booth full of tacklers, trucking, and his speed is something that’s really under appreciated. Plus he’s got his eyes downfield, way more often than Vick had.

Yeah, I’m gonna make this bold statement and say that Lamar Jackson’s game looks more like Steve young than Michael Vick. The obscene tackle breaking being the difference.

Im sorry but imo, vick was by far the best. Young was a much better passer than vick so yea i can see the lamar comparisons and its probably why steve young be hating all the time

Steve young didn’t have to rely on his legs the way Vick did, so he didn’t have the sheer volume of rush attempts that Vick did, but watching his highlights, that man did things with his legs that you’ve never seen Vick do, not even close. He’s got that slippery style that Lamar has, drawing in defenders real close and slipping off their tackles with ease, and his maneuvering in the pocket is a lot more like Lamar’s, where Vick is just rolling out and sprinting to buy himself space as soon as he sees trouble, Lamar and young are climbing, dropping, sidestepping, dipping, and resetting their feet to get their eyes downfield without breaking the pocket.

I really underestimated what I thought I knew about Steve young lol and I suggest maybe you take another look at him. If Lamar is the greatest dual threat qb we’ve ever seen, id say Steve young fathered his style, not Vick. The long speed and both being black QBs are what the comparison is based off of, the actual skill set though is way different and I’ve always thought that.

And btw, I think Vick is overrated af. I watched him live, falcons and eagles, I was a Vick fan, supported him on his return to the league, but with Lamar’s emergence suddenly Vick is brought back into the spotlight and people are so scared to say Lamar is better that now folks are reaching to hype up Vick, he was different, not special, not a rare talent, just a really fast and shifty guy with a strong arm who played qb, but overall skill set Vick was kinda trash, the film and the stats all back it up as well, he was absolutely horrible as a passer up until he teamed up with Andy Reid and actually worked to develop his game

yes, Vick was absolutely the best mobile QB before LJ, he just wasn't the most accurate. I'd say Randall Cunningham was the most accurate, atleast when he was with the Vikings. Now you could say Steve Young was a mobile QB and he was, but it was much different.

I have been comparing Lamar Jackson to Steve Young since the draft. Of course I had a chance to see him live and he is one of the greatest qb's of all time. He had such amazing footwork in the pocket and as you said, he was slippery like Lamar, but Vick's running style is more like Jacksons. I think Lamar is a combination of the two and a little bit of Barry Sanders as well.

Honestly Lamar is all Barry Sanders as a runner except a 6'2" version. As for his QB skills he is molding his game after his idol Tom Brady. Just look at how he steps into the pocket (hop, hop, hop) imitating Tom Brady and being just as deadly!

He reminds me more of Gale Sayers when he runs, but the Sanders comparison is still a huge one.
