The Random Thought Thread

Wouldn't be completely shocked if Harrison finds himself playing as an OLB on occasion. Obviously not as a full time player, but I'd think we could utilize his skills out there at times as well. Kind of like an Albert McClellan in a way but hopefully a lot better.

idk that I see his skill set lending itself to those kinds of reps tbh

I don't see it as a pass rusher as much as a fill in to help set the edge and drop into coverage from the outside spot if we don't have a true pass rusher that can fulfill that role. Kind of an OTTO in a 4-3 under if that clarifies a little more. Not that I expect it a lot by any means but I could see a scenario where he earns reps in that kind of role. Don't currently have anyone that does that on the roster if Judon and Bowser move on after this season.

as you say - bowser and judon are the guys most likely taking those reps this year

Yeah just to add more clarification, not this year for Harrison. Next year and in the future? That's where I potentially see it, especially as these pass rushers coming out of college are doing less and less of the dirty work and more just running after a QB.

i mean maybe - but the angles are so different from OLB than from ILB that i still dont really see it for malik

I feel like Eric decosta had to have just been shocked as all hell when the ravens were on the clock for almost every day 2 pick. Like Holy shit dobbins this late? Madubuike this late? Harrison this late? I was VERY big on Malik Harrison, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned out the better LB from this ravens class, and when I see his camp looks, hear the reports, and go back and watch again, I can’t believe he was available when he was, he’s a top half of round 2 prospect at worst, if Seattle took Malik Harrison instead of jordyn Brooks I would’ve been like damn that’s really not a bad pick. Like I can’t fathom how the nfl let this guy fall so far that we took him on day 2, but not before taking dobbins madubuike and duvernay. Eric had to have been twitching at the thought of not taking Harrison for the first 2 picks in round 3.
actually, I believe @rossihunter2 had some sort of Artificial Intelligence connection with EDC, because we basically took his guys throughout the draft.

How you like that guy bengals drafted? I started following him closer to draft. Thought he would be a decent 5th rnd pick for us
Davis-Gaither or Bailey? I guess you mean Bailey. His 2018 tape was good and I really liked his football IQ, but he has already torn both acls.

never saw dobbins coming but yeah we took a lot of guys that i'd talked about

i think everyone on this forum had queen over the other LBs at 28 but i had madubuike, harrison, bredeson frequently as ravens type selections

tbf it's the most in depth ive ever gone with the draft class and it made it so much easier working out which guys were fits and which guys werent
really enjoyed knowing that much stuff lol

i dont think college football should be happening this autumn but i selfishly am glad there's going to be new film to watch looking ahead at the 2021 draft class

I think logan thomas or something... oh shit its actually logan wilson. He was picked up in 3rd.. thought it was 5th

good player - not dissimilar to harrison in a lot of ways - harrison's got a bigger wingspan but both have traits that make them well suited to traditional mike LB type play - i thought harrison was the higher upside in the passing game and logan wilson was the more likely to turn into someone who could run a defence

i liked them both

wilson would have been a decent 4th rounder too lol - but yeah he got taken before harrison lol

Is it true that the saints said they’re open to trading kamara?
An apparent leak, but it seems improbable with how stacked the Saints are and seem to be in the hunt every single year as long as Brees plays. They’d be stupid to trade him, but Kamara needs to lower the speculated asking price. He shouldn’t be getting CMC money. I’m thinking they meet in the middle at $14

I know he'd have absolutely no role here but Kamara is one of my favorite players so let's make it happen EDC!

he has an innate ability to just get tacklers to slide off him - magnetic runner to watch - so graceful and smooth as an athlete - hardly looks like he's moving and yet he's there casually tearing apart the defence

lol I just realized the Bengals drafted all 3 of them. Wilson is an oldschool LB and he anticipates and reads plays fast. But he hasn't got great sideline to sideline speed and is not agile enough

One of my favorites of that draft class. Didn't put up the combine numbers that many had hoped and was never the feature guy in college, so there was a lot of overthinking there.

Plus he just seems like a genuinely good guy on and off the field. Just one of my favorites overall.

i overlooked him in that draft class but the moment he hit the field as a pro i was infatuated
