The Random Thought Thread

never saw dobbins coming but yeah we took a lot of guys that i'd talked about

i think everyone on this forum had queen over the other LBs at 28 but i had madubuike, harrison, bredeson frequently as ravens type selections

tbf it's the most in depth ive ever gone with the draft class and it made it so much easier working out which guys were fits and which guys werent
really enjoyed knowing that much stuff lol

i dont think college football should be happening this autumn but i selfishly am glad there's going to be new film to watch looking ahead at the 2021 draft class
yep and totally agree with your last sentence.

Well he's "better than Lamar" so I'll give them the benefit of doubt.

LOL, no I won't.
The only explanation I can come up with for Taysom Hill getting 21M bucks is that Sean Payton is gay and still in his closet with Taysom Hill as his boy toy. Otherwise inexplicable.

They got bamboozled. Taysom managed to convince them that he can do the same shit Lamar can do.

hahaha....losing one of the only rbs who's actually worthy of a 2nd contract because they signed a gadget/gimmick player
So, a couple things wrong I see here:
1. Its $16M guaranteed, not $21M, and its also only a one year commitment exactly. I think the Saints would be more than happy to give Kamara whatever he wanted... if it was only a one year commitment. Something tells me Kamara may have a problem with that. I think the overpaid for Hill obviously, but again, its mostly just an expensive insurance policy. If they actually believed Hill was "the future", he wouldn't only be signed through 2021. The extension they gave him was for one whopping year.
2. I'll easily be the one to say it... I think the best of Kamara is in the past. People can blame 2019 on injuries if they want to, but he looked exactly like what LeVeon Bell looked about two years ago... far less explosion, far less elusiveness, wasn't going to get that much more than what you blocked for him.
That Bell contracts looks horrid and the Jets are counting the days until 2021 when they can cut him the first chance they get. I see a LOT of similarities with Kamara. So if I'm the Saints, I'm staying far, far, far away from giving him anything in guaranteed money beyond like this year or maybe 2021, and I'm certainly not pricing him in CMC or even Zeke's market. That's just paying him in the future for what he's done in the past, which is never a good business model.
3. When he says "haggling over $2M", its not $2M. Its $2M a year for probably 3-4 years or whatever portion of the contract he signs, and some of that will probably be in the form of guaranteed money. You're talking 20% increases at this point.

We got Ian Eagle & Charles Davis for Week 1 against the Browns. Nantz & Romo will be covering the Dolphins/Patriots game... for some reason.

Week 2 when we play Houston, Kevin Harlan & Trent Green will be calling that one. While Romo & Nantz will be doing Chargers/Chiefs.

Thank fuck Dan fouts is gone because that would have been his crew for week 1 and I hate the sound of that motherfucker’s voice

really happy we’ve got Harlan week 2 - my favourite play-by-play guy in the business

Possibly the only good thing about this shit year is Fouts getting canned. Never really had a problem with Eagle, but Fouts just ruined those broadcasts.

Harlan is just the man. Hope we can get another Lamar highlight play for him to call this year.

Man that fucker disgusted every fabric of my being. And so did that other dude who got fired, the black man with furrows (creases) in his brow that could hide my maltipoo and was a profound idiot with his takes on Lamar - can't immediately think of his name!
Edit: I just remembered his name - Booger McFarland

Madubuike has a faster 3 cone time than Judon and Ferg
I have a faster 3 cone time than ferg and my left knee is approaching arthritis. My fucking grandfather has a faster cone time than ferg.

FUCK what a shit draft pick he was. I saw it coming for 2 whole rounds and just knew it, and then bam there he is being selected, and bam there he goes doing jack shit, and then bam here he is in camp looking fat and stiff and slow and just generally looking a pile of shit on cleats.

tbf he doesnt look fat in camp this year - but he looks hella stiff

Ferguson needs to attend a dance class.

On another note who started this bring Jefferson back hype?
He was a "locker room favorite" is what I heard the most, and he's unemployed and we seemingly have need for depth.

I haven't really heard anybody suggest bringing him back based on his actual merits, i.e. his ability to play quality football for this team. Almost like they'd like to bring him as purely a mentor to Clark and Elliott.

I've heard worse items, but I also value "veteran leadership" at around the vet minimum, which I don't know that he'd sign for.
